Only those not responsible/smart enough to plan for their retirement.

Only about 96% of seniors are covered by Medicare. I guess they are all not responsible or smart. At least try to put your brain in gear before posting.

They are covered by it. Doesn't mean they depend on it. Brain, gear....

They depend on it as their primary insurance coverage. Idiot.

Even without a source backing up your claim (and ignoring your attack), I'll point out that if you don't enroll in Part A you cannot receive your SS benefits. (Even with a separate retirement fund, I'd like access to my money.) Also, seniors are automatically enrolled in Part B.

It removes having to file tax returns and abolishes the IRS as it now stands and removes the 16th amendment.
It untaxes the poor and puts needed cash flow into the hands of the working poor with a monthly prebate check.
It allows for one to limit taxation by purchasing used goods.
It taxes black market transactions and crime profits.
It collects taxes from current tax evaders and non citizens. If you buy stuff...you pay. Where you get your money from is irrelevant.
It takes the government "out of your financial business".

Is it perfect?...No....but it is light years better than the mess we have now.

Yep. But politicians lose the power to create loopholes. THIS is why it doesn't happen. It's not about rich vs poor... it's about political power.

As to the healthcare debate trying to change the topic...

Sure, we can do more. There is ALWAYS more... but REGARDLESS of these health "studies" that like the one on "fattest cities" that measure irrelevant things like number of days of sunshine... our healthcare delivery system is pretty good. It's the FINANCING of it that is screwed... and THAT is because people seem to think that insurance is like the lottery... you put in $1 and get $1mm out. They don't realize that in order to get $1mm out, 999,999 people have to take nothing out... actually more like 1.1mm because the government gets paid... something they try very hard to hide.

Fiscal sanity starts with political honesty. When you get the latter, the former will be easier. Americans are FAR AND AWAY the most generous country on the planet... but some of us like knowing where our money is going

Yes...but...It CAN happen. It will take MASS civil disobedience and protest. That is ALWAYS what it takes to make those in power change anything of this scale. I am ready NOW to participate in such protest...even if it meant taking a leave of absence from my job to do so. I believe it is that vital to saving our nation from its demise.
