He gave a Republican response to the Presidents weekly address. He seems to think that America will grow faster with MORE free trade agreements! Is the man insane? Is he just stupid or is he just a corporate puppet?

yeah, the tariffs we've put on foreign ethanol, as well as sugar have really done the job. I guess the candy companies packed up and left for another reason. Maybe it was the weather

Robert, we live in global economy. There is no changing that fact. Either you accept and adapt or you become a 3rd world nation. We have accepted it, unfortunately we havent adapted.

Clinton promised the working class job retraining when pushing NAFTA. How's that working for you, Roberta. Still cleaning the same toilets? Pissboy. Or should I say Pissperson.

I see. You want us to become a third world country. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. Conservatives want to turn this into a third world country.

Who the **** cares about "retraining" for a job you will never get at the age of 50+? THis whole "retraining" thing is a joke. You righties are continuing to use it to this day. Pretty much the only thing you can retrain for these days is a job at McDonalds because most of the other jobs that actually require thinking and skill are now overseas.

Do you realize that many more manufacturing jobs were lost because of technological innovation vs them moving over seas, right? Did you know that the U.S. is the 3rd biggest steel producer in the world? The vast majority of the steel made in China and Japan is feeding the Chinese economy itself. The U.S. still has a very strong manufacturing base.

03-lmfao Yeah, I guess you are right we do still have a strong manufacturing base. McDonalds just created over 50,000 manufacturing jobs.

Btw, I do know of 2 LCD tv makers that make their tv's in the US. I would assume they mean they are "assembled" here with foreign parts. But it is a start. Next we need to get the parts made here.

I see. You want us to become a third world country. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. Conservatives want to turn this into a third world country.

You truly have a reading disorder. I want us to accept and adapt to it. We havent adapted to it. We still have an economy that is frozen in a limbo between the old and new economy. No one in power(public or private sector, capital sector or labor) has the guts to do what needs to be done to fully reform our economy to where it needs to be.

If we continue on this path, we will become a 3rd world nation in the matter of a generation or two.

If it is true free trade ... he is right.

If it's "managed" trade like NAFTA ... then he's wrong and he's a corporate owned shill.

Btw, I do know of 2 LCD tv makers that make their tv's in the US. I would assume they mean they are "assembled" here with foreign parts. But it is a start. Next we need to get the parts made here.

Steel is merely one example of the presence of a manufacturing base. The U.S. is number 3 in the world for steel production. It would be nice if it was at the top of the list, but at least I can prove that there is a serious manufacturing base in this country. The bottom line is that we still make a lot of stuff here, but due to the fact that technological innovation has pushed jobs out of manufacturing, it "appears" that all of our jobs are moving over seas. There is a difference between losing manufacturing jobs vs losing your manufacturing base.

Well damn, we better speed it up. We need to drastically speed up the lowering wages to poverty level, implementing child labor and sweatshops! Is this seriously what you want to see this country become? I think it is sad that this is what you and the Republican party want this nation to become.

Can you name ONE thing in your house that is made in the US(besides you and your family-though I don't know your family so they might not have been)?

Ammunition. And that's just 2 feet from where I'm currently typing. I didn't have to look too far for that at all.

I wasn't asking myself. My appliances are so old that they probably were made here*though, they aren't technically "mine" since I am renting) but other than that I can't thinkof a damn thing outside most of my food that was made in the US. Actually, come to think of it, I do have a frying pan that was made here.

I guess I should have known that. If there is one thing(well,2 actually) America is good at, it is making weapons and ammunition. Something to be proud of I guess.

You asked a silly question and I was just suggesting you look around your own residence to see how silly it was.

I have a brand new range. A New fridge. New washer. All whirlpool. All probably made at the Whirlpool plant down the street from me. Most of my furniture was made here. Sofa, bed, dining table, chairs, you get the ideal. Look around.
