You're one of the few to realize and accept this. Get those other folks over to stage 5 of the grief cycle so they aren't so deliusional.
Course then the board wouldnt be as much fun to read over there either.

It's a process.. you can't hurry it. We still have 1 more year playing in the WAC. We are hoping for movement in the Big East and a potential CUSA raid to open a couple of spots. When that happens Tech fans will have a better understanding of our future.

So....the seperation that tech fans foamed at the mouth about had nothing to do with tech itself but being in a conference with other better thought of schools. So....tech is the same as they always were just better neighbors.... I think I am going to enjoy the view as you fall face first....sweeeeet.

A Smart move for both schools. Finally , a good business plan prevails.
We both need butts in the seats, and to create interest.
I applaud both A.D.'s.
Tulane needs to see the light also..

Nobody foamed at the mouth... that was your perception. The separation was just a competitive advantage over ULL and ULM in conference revenue, BCS revenue, televised games, perception, and recruiting.

And this all came to a screeching halt in February.

I thought Tulane was playing ULM. How many in-state non-conference should they play?

As many as they can?
I would gladly love to play UCF and USF every year OOC. Hell, I wouldnt even mind andding FAMU as a lone FCS game to that plan.Im of the opinion that playing In-State OOC games helps both universitys more then an out of state OOC. Easier travel for both the teams and the fans and it would be against teams that both fan bases usually see in the paper.
No offense to UAB, but I would MUCH rather have UCF or USF on our schedule this year because I feel that the fan bases would find it easier to travel.
FAU generally brings very sparse crowds to away games, but when we played USF last year we had about 1200 travel up to see the Owls play, and that during a very crappy year.

They should rotate state schools if its in their financial interest.

It is in their financial interest. Hell they would love to play LSU every year. Tulane is not above the SBC. They would have a hard time with Troy and MTSU and scared of UL. If they can schedule USA then they should go ahead and schedule La Tech and ULM. Hell McNeese State and Southeast Louisiana will rock Tulane's gate receipts.

I doubt Tulane can make budget without one or two money games and they have a unique need to play in the Northeast to create brand awareness for potential students (not athletes). Loading up in-state doesn't seem too likely.

So Tulane is another Northeast school in the South? The other being Miami. How many of Tulane's students are from out of state?

When I attended [1966-68] About 60% was out of state, a substantial portion of that from major cities, mostly New York and environs, though Miami and other areas with high Jewish populations also are heavily represented.

The people I know who went to Tulane are from Boston, NY and Chicago originally. It is very popular among Jewish students who aren't quite Ivy League material and want a change from where they've grown up.

If you can't see your ticket allotment, then it is not in the best interest of your program financially.
When it comes to traveling to UL, McNeese St., Southern and Tech have been the best financially for us. UL has traveled well to LSU, Tulane and Tech in the past.

Most Tech people look forward to renewing the rivalry between ULL and Tech. I can't wait and hope its a decent draw and will garner some attention statewide.

How 'bout this? Tech has been saying no all along to the addition of Seattle and may have just been out-voted by the 4 western most members (Seattle for Tech is too far away, plays no football and would take money out of their mouth once the Boise cash dries up). Tech is starting to schedule Sun Belt schools. Appy is making noises about FBS (before the window closes).
Anybody starting to put 1 + 1 + 1 together?
Your addition ..... does makes sense.
East:
Florida Atlantic
Florida International
App State
Middle Tennessee
South Alabama
Troy
West:
Arkansas State
Western Kentucky
Louisiana-Lafayette
Louisiana-Monroe
North Texas
La Tech
Looks like a fit to me.
NO way to have 3 Louisiana teams in the Belt---Either Monroe goes or Tech doesn't come in the league!!!!

But it isn't. It's not like we're playing Ark State or UNT instead of UL or Tech...if we were, you'd have a point. It's not like we're reaching to the WAC or MAC to find opponents. Look at our ooc schedules...we have no trouble filling them with opponents that bring our school value: Rutgers, Syracuse, Army, Ole Miss, Ms State, Duke, etc.

Okay, if it isn't then why are you scheduling other state schools? You've played Southland Conference programs over the past few years, how many fans did Southeastern bring to the dome? If a program can sell their ticket allotment and travel over 10,000 to the dome, then that's value. If you are defining value by which programs give you better schedule strength, that is an entirely different matter. You see, there is perception and reality. Reality is Tulane's attendance is marginal at best and please, I've seen the reported attendance numbers. If Southern can travel 15,000 to 20,000 to the dome, why not play them? If UL can travel 10,000 t0 15,000 to the dome, why not schedule them? And I'm still confused as to what value ULM brings to the table?

RE: OH NO!! SAY IT AINT SO!!!
How does the raise in tuition across the state affect ULM?
http://www.2theadvocate.com/blogs/politi...13364.html
Will this move mean ULM gain or loose students to other schools in Louisiana? ULM enrollement is above 7,000 correct?
Do more kids stay closer to home and attend ULL, Southeastern, Southern, or McNeese State to mitigate cost of going two hours north to ULM.
LA Tech and Grambling is 40 miles away
