I don't think that will happen. I'm much more concerned that Paul and Cain might start hitting the links way too often. It would be extremely irresponsible if either of those 2 spend a lot of time dithering on the golf courses, because it would show that neither of them would take being the president seriously. Let's hope our Republican candidates don't become clueless idiots and golf excessively while the country is burning...

Actually, the current guy can't play enough golf to suit me. The more time he spends on the golf course, the less time he has to spend screwing up the country. He's less dangerous on the golf course than he is almost anywhere else.

Sorry, you keep projecting what you think people on this board are like, instead of paying attention. Of course that is what "clueless" means...

That's what it looked like before any of this came to light anyways. Just like Sarah and her freedom tour (not sure what she named it) was her attempt to maintain her brand, Newt jumped into the race to enhance his brand. I think he was positioning himself for a job with the new GOP administration that will come into power in 2013. However, with this "mutiny" on his hands so early in the game, I think he will fade into obscurity forever.

RE: Newt
He has had a very rocky start, but its too early to write him off especially in this field. Newt will have a chance to redeem himself, but he has to educate the voters on why he is the better canidate both in the primary and in the general election. By taking such a stance on medicare he may have a window if he is so different from the field. He would have to explain why his approach would be better. He has to win on ideas. He will lose if he doesn't convince voters he has the best ideas and plans. He won't win a popularity contest with other Repoublicans or Obama. He has to sell voters that although they might not like him or his past problems....he is the guy with the best ideas for the counytry.

RE: Newt
Newt probably is the guy with the best ideas--in either party. And the republicans need to make this a contest of ideas if they are to win. Obama will be hard to beat in a personality contest, particularly with the MSM picking sound bytes for the evening news. But Obama's ideas are on display for all to see, and last I checked they weren't working very well.

The problem with Newt is that he can't be the front man. He loses the personality contest by so wide a margin that it's hard to overcome with ideas. So what republicans need is an attractive candidate pushing Newt's ideas. But not Newt.

RE: Newt
I guess the big news out of this fallout with Newt is that ABC said that most of the rats jumping ship were Rick Perry advisors at one point in time, and that Perry had the right mix of Conservative viewpoints to win the Republican nomination. That would be an absolute disaster.
