You realize that unemployment is measured much differently now than it was back then, don't you? Using the same standards, the numbers are a lot closer.

yes, but the hardships endured during the great depression pale in comparison to what we are going through now. It's the economic version of Godwin's Law. Once you invoke it, you lose me.
