I'm pretty sure just about everything, from police to the military has a private equivalent. No more government at all! In all seriousness, it is an interesting idea.
Side note, I googled Pawlenty, can I eliminate him? ( I kid!)

I agree with him that a VAST amount of the current governmental bureaucracy could be handled in the free market using competition to drive down costs...improve efficiencies and innovate. I would however stress that we need to "marketize" these functions...not "privatize" them. We do not need corporations getting sweet deals...This needs to be done using competition as the basis for getting these job functions.
I give TP props for bringing this out in his campaign. He may be taking it to the extreme..but..his basic idea is outstanding.:ncaabbs:
