Baseball Regionals: FIU vs JMU
No. 20 FIU Panthers Play JMU in Chapel Hill Regional

MIAMI - The No. 20 FIU baseball team will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for its second-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and third since 2002. FIU (40-18-1) is the No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional and will face the No. 3 seed James Madison (40-17) on Friday, June 3, at 1:00 p.m. at UNC's Boshamer Stadium.

Filling out the Chapel Hill Regional are the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels (No. 3 National Seed) and the No. 4 seed Maine Black Bears.

The Panthers recently moved up two spots in this week's Baseball America Top 25 to No. 20 following the team's run during this past weekend's Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

The last time the Panthers won 40 games was in 2002 when FIU totaled 41 wins while earning a berth in the NCAA Regional in Coral Gables. FIU is coming off a 3-1 stint in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, falling to the UALR Trojans, 7-6 in the championship game. The Panthers will be making its tenth NCAA appearance and its first back-to-back tournament appearance since 2002.

FIU led the league in hitting and in pitching. The Panthers finished the season with a .319 batting average, 427 runs scored and 59 homeruns. FIU also led the league in pitching with a staff ERA of 3.58 allowing a league low of 210 earned runs. In its last 25 games the Panthers have compiled a 21-3-1 record.

The all-time series between FIU and the James Madison is tied, 3-3, with the first-ever meeting between the two teams coming on May 21, 1975 in the NCAA Division II Lakeland Regional. The Diamond Dukes got the best of the Panthers in that game, 6-1. James Madison enters this year's NCAA Tournament as the Colonial Athletic Association Champions.

Make that back to back homeruns as Bermudez adds another. That is the 4th combined homer of this game. FIU has 3 of them (Wittels has the other)

5-5

FIU has run JMU ace out of the game, as they've gone to the pen.

FIU has 8 hits already, in less than 2 innings at bat.
