Agreed. Stick a fork in us.

I don't see any way out except a consumption tax.
I don't see that working either. As wages and salaries drop to make the country more competetive, so does consumption. The only consumption will be food, shelter, transportation and maybe a cell phone(basic one nothing fancy).

That doesn't make a damn bit of sense and if you knew anything about economics, you wouldn't make such an asinine claim.
Really rebs? Can you explain to me how one is going to do a lot of consumption when they have no money to buy anything? THis should be amusing.

For the same damn reason a coke was a nickle in the 50's and 2 dollars today. A dollar is meaningless. It's nothing but a vehicle of currency that has a fluid value depending on a nation's economic state.

Your mistake is in assuming that wages and salaries have to drop for us to become competitive again. First, lowering wages wouldn't be sufficient to compete with third world countries for low-value jobs (the ones we don't particularly want). Second, it's not necessary; Germany competes without lowering wages.

Suppose we decide to keep salaries and wages high and compete utilizing strengths in other areas. We can figure out ways to do that.

Absolutely. The only thing I want to prohibit in America is the withholding of the fruits of people's labor from their paychecks.

Btw, I don't get Fox boobs. I only have the local channels plan(too far from Chicago and Rockford to pick up signal with "bunny ears" and can't afford regular cable) which doesn't include Fox "News".

Robert....The information is easily accessible via the net that explains the FT. You really should be more informed before you make a fool of yourself when discussing this topic.

I am amazed that Liberals would be opposed to the FT. It allows the working poor to keep their money(in which they need) and even sends them a monthly rebate check. It would do more to improve the conditions of the working poor than any program ever conceived in America.

That fact tells you quite a bit about what liberals are really interested in.

Yes. They really do not care about the poor for anything but a vote.

So, we really don't have 9.1% unemployment, a 1.6 trillion dollar deficit, a 14 trillion dollar debt?

Now I know what type of person would spend thousands on capes for unemployed people in Florida. Hell, you might be kin to him/her.
