Again, limited government =/= NO government, fool. How about paying the damn first responders LESS than 100+ THOUSAND dollars per year? They have budget problems alright. ...and they have to do with unions, overhead, and other bloat. To say, "we weren't trained" only tells me they're ******* who should all be fired. This is the difference between liberals and conservatives.
Maybe we should just pay them minimum waage? THat way they only "steal" a little of your money. 03-lmfao Actually, if you had your way, there would be NO minimum wage and they could pay the guy a dollar a day! 02-13-banana Moron.

No, they'd be paid what they're worth, market value. Many towns have volunteer fire depts.

I'm no mathematician, but I believe there exists a very wide spectrum between $7.25/hour and $100K+.

C'mon now. This is dictionary definition of strawman arguing.

When I read the article, I was thinking about Atlas Shrugged and two parts.

One was when the railroad cars were about to enter the mountain and no one would accept responsibility for making a decision concerning the safety of entering.

The other was D'Anconia and when he leaped to put out the fire in Readen's steel plant.

I understand those things(courage and duty) just fine. Now what about my post? THey were cutting spending. THe person was making decisions for himself without government intrusion. That sure sounds like what you guys say you want. Now you get angry because I wrote your philosophy?

Btw, I like tits. Though, I prefer smaller tits vs big monster size ones. :)

The spending cuts were not what stopped them from going into waste deep water, bureaucracy did that! This was not the Niagara river and as many posters said there are beaches in the area where grown men take their kids.

An untrained passer by was 'trained' enough to retrieve the body.

Not really. Many on this board would actually think that is appropriate pay. Actually, many on here would argue that we should do away with the minimum wage which wuld allow for them to make less. THe more they cabn save on their taxes, the better.

I call BS.... Your inability to understand the term *limited* government does not constrain others..

Who on this board does not thing Almeda should have a publicly financed fire department? Anyone?

Most people on this board think about Atlas Shrugged day and night. They even have dreams about it when they sleep. Sometimes they find a mess in the morning. 05-stirthepot

I think we should do away with minimum wage. Not for first responders, but for Wal-mart, McDonalds, Subway, and gas station type jobs. Let the market determine what a high school kid should get paid. And yes I know that there are people who stock shelves at Wal-mart as their career, but that doesn't mean they should be paid more than the college kid working over at Target doing it as part time work. I have no problem with first responders making $50-$75K depending on experience and location. I think that is fair for the training, knowledge, and risk their job entails.

While we are at it just do away with child labor laws, drug laws, and moral or social laws, immigration laws, banking laws, environmental laws, education laws, OSHA, Corps and Taxes. Put human nature in the drivers seat as Fo would have you believe.

The markets wouldn't determine a damn thing. It would be the corporations determining the wages. THis is why 'Fo and the other nuts on here that think like him live in a fantasy world. Maybe you should try working that Covo gig you used to have at $3.00 an hour(or less)? I am sure you would have been delighted.

Problem is, the market has determined that stagehands make around $15 an hour. I don't work any union calls and get paid from $13-33 per hour. So the market did determine that wage, which is fair.
