W. Kentucky Fans think they are too good for the Sun Belt
From the hilltopper board.

http://www.hilltopperhaven.com/board/vie...=3&t=21442

"I understand your point about football’s role, (thank you Gary for having the nads to do the right thing) but it is only one part of the larger equation. I truly believe that both on the whole and also applying some weighting to the relevant sports and facilities we are much better than the Sun Belt. I have no problem in clearly pointing out WKU’s greatness. It is the “precious present” that causes the concern to many – and it should. However, what we bring to the Sun Belt in every other aspect far outweighs our near term football and basketball crappy product. Therefore you see the weighting I outlined in my post and why we are flat out better than the Sun Belt (I will however be the first to admit that I did not engage McKinsey & Company, Inc. for guidance on the actual weighting outlined in my post – they cost an arm and a leg and are just a bunch of Harvard type pinheads)

As to the last few items in your post. Try to think of my comments from more of a strategic approach rather than a micro low level look. While I appreciate the “let's storm the castles and take what is ours. No guts no glory!” stuff, I just want to throw up when I hear “this is where we are (Sunbelt) like it or not”. I was in fact just waiting for this one to come out because I knew the second I posted my classic (and second only to are you hearing what I am hearing) “our administration has failed” blip again about getting out of the Sun Belt, someone would come full force with the standard reply you gave. Which is fine - I understand some people may feel this way. But just like cilantro and thick ankled women, this logic is just not for me.

On the surface I have no doubt that the marching orders from the administration is to love and hug and as you say “take what is ours” in the Sun Belt. But I also have not doubt that deep down inside the gut of the administration is the goal to get the hell out of the Belt. And as such over the last what, 25(?) or so years, since the split with the UAB’s and South Florida’s of the world WKU has FAILED on this strategic front. That is all, nothing more nothing less. And since WKU is great this failure is unacceptable."

No member deserves out of the Sun Belt or is too good for it on an athletic level until they are dominating the confrence in the big 3 of Football, Mens Basketball, and Baseball.

If you are consistently winning those championships or coming close every year I say you have an arguement.

Ah, it's just one guy...I don't know that it's the viewpoint of all WKU fans. When they had good basketball I would say that program was too good (compared to the rest of our b ball programs) but not now. Besides, as Owl stated; one program doing well doesn't mean you are too good of the Belt. Look at Troy, they have great football but need to get their other programs going. Now, once Troy completes it's new b ball faclities they might be ready to move up, if they can keep winning in two of the big three but even then I wouldn't say "too good."

It's just one dude. I think a lot of us see our respective programs/schools through colored glasses, but in actuality, like Owl said, no one has really distanced themselves.

Most fans in the SBC feel their schools are better than belonging in the conference because of being "non-qualifiers". To me, there's not a dime's worth of difference in any of the non-qualifying conferences. The "mighty" C-USA included.

Trust me, their is more than one hilltopper fan that thinks Western KY is "too good" for the Sun Belt.

That one cracked me up. WKU doesn't get anyone else's 'juices flowing' either, except for it being a guaranteed win.

We have FAU, ULM, and MTSU coming to Denton this year in addition to WKU. I wonder if TitanTopper can guess which one produces the smallest volume of juices from our fanbase. 03-lmfao

RE: W. Kentucky Fans think they are too good for the Sun Belt
heyzeus on a unicycle.

that is the first I've seen of that thread. after reading it one would say that more folks called out the post than supported it.

you could cherry pick every single conference board and find at least one person saying the same. maybe not the ulm folks but easily on the muts or unt boards.

it was one person. that would be no different than me starting a thread called 'mt fan is a quee-er and fancies she-males'

then someone could link it here and say 'hilltoppah fans guilty of hate crimes towards middle tennessee state fans'

i'm sure i musta screwed some middle fan's wives in my travels but i honestly didn't realize i nailed that many.

quit hatin'.
