FAU's Stadium Could Generate $1.8M Game Days
Florida Atlantic University's new 30,000-seat on-campus football stadium could generate an estimated $1.8 million to FAU and the local economy on each game day, according to the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, a private, not-for-profit organization contracted by Palm Beach County to promote and market the County as a sports and sports tourism destination.

With $1.8 million per game, the stadium will pay for itself withn 8 years. Not bad. We will know if FAU announces plans for a stadium expansion by 2018.

Is that $1.8 million if it sells out every home game?

1.8 Million in economic impact per game is nice. BUT that is not 1.8 million in FAU's bank account.
Stadium is looking great!

Here is the breakdown of the formula used courtesy of fauowlaccess.

http://www.fauowlaccess.com/blogs/owlthi...adium.aspx

Here's what FAU came up with projected spending of $143 per person from out of town and $72 for a local with no hotel stay...

1,000 adults x 2 night hotel stay x avg. spending of $143 =$286,000
500 youth x 2 night hotel stay x avg. spending of $72 = $72,000
18,500 in attendance (no hotel stay) x $72 =$1,332,000

The formula calls for a youth hotel stay @ $72 too. So, regardless whether there's an out of town youth (hotel stay) or a no hotel stay participant the formula still calls for $72 average spending.

Totals: $286,000 adults + $72,000 youth + $1,332,000 participants = $1,690,000
