Cajuns land two transfers in Vanderbilt forward Darshawn McClellan and Tulane guard Kevin Brown

The UL men's basketball team has landed two transfers in Vanderbilt forward Darshawn McClellan and Tulane guard Kevin Brown.
Both players previously signed national letters of intent, so nothing is binding until they actually attend class at the school, but McClellan and Brown told me Tuesday that their decisions are final.
McClellan, who visited campus two weeks ago, has one year of eligibility left after sitting out as a redshirt last season. He is set to graduate Friday and would then apply for a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately next season as a graduate student.
Fresno State, UC Riverside, Monmouth, San Jose State and San Francisco were also involved before the Fresno, Calif., native picked the Cajuns.
"Everything about the school felt pretty good when I took my visit, and that played a big role in my decision," said McClellan, who averaged 2.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 12.8 minutes in 95 games at Vanderbilt. "I'm getting the chance to surround myself with good people."
Brown, recruited by the Cajuns out of Alief Elsik High School in Houston, took an unofficial visit to campus last Friday.
As a freshman, Brown averaged 1.3 points and 6.4 minutes in 18 games for first-year Tulane coach Ed Conroy. He requested and was granted a release in late March and plans to pay his own way while sitting out next season per NCAA transfer rules.
Brown was rated the nation's No. 88 shooting guard by ESPN.com as a prep senior after averaging 17 points, five assists and 2.5 steals per game. He also considered Denver, Cal Poly, Northern Kentucky, Pikeville College and a number of junior colleges.
"It was really a no-brainer for me," said Brown, who will have three years of eligibility left starting with the 2012-13 season. "When I left Tulane I knew I wanted to go to UL. The biggest factor was the coaching staff. I feel like I can really trust them, and they made me feel really comfortable. I think this is definitely going to be a good move for me."
I got more comments from McClellan and Brown but have a lot to get done today. I'll share that later tonight.
The Cajuns signed four recruits in November and added two more signees this spring before McClellan and Brown made their decisions.
