Last night, when they were forecasting today's games, Vitale basically gave George Mason no shot at the Mighty 'Nova. Puhlease.

I picked George Mason in my bracket. :)

Ended up 13-3 yesterday so far 25-7 after the first 2 days of the bracket challenge

Down goes St. John's.
Down goes Georgetown.
Down goes West Virginia.

Five Down, Six to go.

Cincy, Marquette, Syracuse, Pitt, Notre Dame, UCONN

2 games featuring all Big East today and tomorrow, so 2 more will go down. Two guaranteed to Sweet 16. Just two $EC teams remaining, with UK already advancing to Sweet 16.

Least is lucky to play each other to have a couple advance to Sweet 16

Couple of things about the Big Least.

#1 They get some nice players and coaches, but they play the RPI game very, very well. They all (or most of them) buy up a bunch of easy home games so that when they play each other their strength of schedule looks unreal because they all racked up nonconference wins against weak teams at home.

I don't really have a problem with that because the other conferences could choose to do that also.

#2 ESPN is in Connecticut and pretty much all of their commentators are from the east coast. They may try to be objective but they seem to be east coast homers. That gets on my nerves.

Notre Dame, whose basketball plays in the Big LEast, just got embarrassed by the #10 seed Florida State while #3 seed Syracuse was ousted by the #11 seed Marquette Golden Eagles. Not like the Big LEast lost a spot in that latter matchup.

So the Big LEast receives 11 bids and only two teams make it to the Sweet 16! Even the Mountain West will have as many teams represented this far into the tournament with 8 less bids. My monopoly money is on San Diego State topping UConn and UNC-Chapel Hill all over Marquette to put the Big LEast out its NCAA Tournament misery.

FSU played well i don't think anyone expected that. I finished 4-4 today sitting at 35-12 overall. I've got UNC winning the Nat'l title over Kansas.

For all the griping about Big East hype, the fact remains that the 11 teams that earned bids lost a total of 17 non-conference games this year.

Only 7 of those losses came against non-NCAA tournament teams.

6 of those 7 were by West Virginia and St. John's.

So 9 of those teams lost one total game to non-NCAA teams this year.
