I get tired of typing this, but for some it never seems to set in.
No one has ever been banned for their opinion. Many have been banned for the way in which they elect to express that opinion.
I think a prime example to show that you were not banned for your opinion is the fact that Don, who had the exact opposite opinion as you was also banned. He also was never banned because of the opinion he voiced, but for the way in which he voiced that opinion.
If you want to cry about your treatment here, you have no one to blame but yourself.
BTW, as far as the part about all the people you have spoke to and the discussions you have had with them, no one here gives a ****. There are members here who also speak to members of the athletic department and former athletes, dine with the AD and his wife, attend the Bearcat Faithful Luncheon, grew up with and are still friends with the Cronin family, own companies that sponsor UC football games, are members of the 1200 club and the Goerge Smith Society, etc. While you may consider yourself a great ambassador to UC athletics, there are many here who do just as much or more, and name dropping will not get you anywhere with any of the members here.
As it's been stated that this is the topic for pissing contests, I guess i'll risk hanging it over the camode one more time.
You've got 160 posts this season to fall back on sublea. I didn't attack anyone personally. So I can't imagine it was how I said anything. It's simply what, and ultimately, who said it. Who's surprised that I was set up for this once found out, and now given the chance, the pack has lined up to pile on once again?
But boy subflea, did you miss the point of that post altogether. Although by design i'm sure. I sure didn't post it to complain. And I wasn't name dropping, as you care to put it, so much as demonstrating that I have actually been stepping up and supporting this coach. With so many Cincy elites in here, you know, the long time family "friends of Mick", why does it appear to take someone from "outside" the circle to step up and try to quell all the hate he's received? Of all these friends of his, which ones have had his back? Because I for one have sure been hard pressed to find them. Why is he having to resort to closed door meetings with his team to escape the media and fan bombardment? Why did he openly state he fully expected to get fired this year without a Tourney appearance?
What i've seen posted in here that past 5 years is typical of what i've seen on other sites and in the media. Based on his public comments, it sure doesn't appear those dinner meetings with AD Thomas did much to quell any concerns Cronin had on being able to follow thru with his work to rebuild this program.
Could it be he felt his backside was laid bare? Some friends. Now I don't claim to be some sort of white knight for the program, i'm simply someone who has felt he's been treated very unfairly this whole time, and it seems the principle place i've found a similar perspective has been from those outside the Cincy fan base. Maybe i'm too passionate about it and it's been reflected in my approach in the past. But as this season has demonstrated, it doesn't appear to matter much how it's presented, offense is take either way.
Consider the angst among the forum this season about this new poster who's got the nerve to criticise any perceived unfair treatment. It sure doesn't suggest any commonality of thought along those lines.
Never the less, he made the Tourney. He's signed on for 6 more seasons. And until this episode in here the past few days, a relative peace has appeared to settle in among the Cincy fan base. For that, I feel good about how things have worked out. I sure hope it holds.
