Well, did your stadium upgrade help recruiting? Or is it the 35-40 players you bring in every year?
For the record, Fouts Field need to be replaced years ago. Those visitors who have been to Fouts know what I'm talking about. Hopefully the new stadium get us equal to, facilitywise, other programs in our region and in the Sun Belt. Our recruiting should improve also.
And hopefully we'll have newly designed HELMETS as the icing on the cake!
I would say yes, our facilities have helped us recruit. As to your little jab there, you sound like you're jealous of our success and wanting something to blame.
It has been said time after time, we do not break any rules. So, you bringing it up just comes across as sour grapes.
I'm sorry we replaced you guys as top dog and haven't looked back since, but harping on something that is in no way illegal by NCAA rules is not going to change anyting. Only your AD getting its act together can.
And finally, even though this has been said before, I will reitterate it for our Mean Green fan here.
Our oversigning and placing kids in JUCOs is not cheating. The kids are not required to return to Troy once they get their grades where they need to be. In fact, if you look at what we do, it is a positive for many of these kids. They may not have taken highschool seriously enough, they may just not be book smart. Larry Blakeney finds the best character guys out of those ranks and helps them find a home in the JUCO system. There they not only get more help with their classes than you would at a big institution, they also get more field experience and playing time to get ready for the speed of college football.
If the kid gets his grades where they need to be and wants to honor his commitment to us, we welcome him back and it counts against that year's numbers.
Sooooo, stop whining about this. It hasn't been this huge advantage over everyone that some of you make it out to be. We don't get to have more players on our roster or extra points on the board...even though it does seem like we do sometimes.
