I've gotten more of a kick out of all ESPN's interviews with Bob Knight. He always talks like they just woke him up at 3:30 in the morning to do the interview.

I like that a whole new section of basketball fans are getting a dose of Barkley.

Too bad Jay Bilas already said that VCU's run didn't make him wrong about them, although UAB's egg-laying did prove everyone right about them.

Look, I have nothing against UAB personally, I just think the actual top teams should be in. Either win your conference's auto-bid, or prove it in other ways. Colorado proved it by who they beat... VATech proved it by who they beat. Sorry, *THIS YEAR* UAB was just not that good.

That being said... VATech and Colorado were not going to win the national championship so does it affect anything in the grand scheme of things? No.

I wonder is "everybody" believes VCU should be in now.

I love it when the arrogant know it all's look like idiots.

How about if VCU makes the final four, and kicks major butt along the way?
What will you blame that on?

You guys just can't stand anyone outside your privileged 6 conferences being close to a National Championship.

Bilas, Vitale, Davis and Phelps, will never live this down.

They said the selection committee "doesn't know anything about basketball".

Apparently the BC$ league loving; ESPN's overpaid Basketball analyst; don't know anything either.

Go VCU!!!

These four clowns, will never live this down.

ESPN is a joke for allowing this over the top tirade to air for over 30 minutes on selection day.

VCU has shoved their face in *^%t.

What Bilas has said is that their regular season resume wasn't as good as Colorado, VT, or a handful of others. That is how you are supposed to select teams for the tourney, not potential nor name on the jersey nor conference...

Some stats on VCU...

Regular season - Scoring defense ranked 106th, NCAA tourney 2nd.
Regular season - 8 3PTS made per game, NCAA > 10.
Regular season - 4th place in the CAA (the 10th rated conference).
They've hit 12 or more 3 pointers in a game twice this year... both in the NCAA tourney.

They are H-O-T, and it has been a blast to watch (and shocking after watching the play-in game against USC here in Dayton, both teams looked pathetic). I've been rooting for VCU throughout the tourney... same with Butler. UAB and VCU did not play good enough schedules, across the board, to warrant consideration based on their records IMO. That goes with pretty much all of the "experts." Obviously VCU has played extraordinarily well throughout the tourney, which is awesome. I will admit I'm rooting for Butler on Saturday, however, as there is a financial consideration for me (my 3 year old's "picks" have Butler winning it all).

At the end of the day UAB deserved to be in the tourney less than VCU, but based on their full resume they didn't belong there. That doesn't take away from what they've done in the tourney, it only points out the deficiencies they had in the regular season.

Some extra fine 3 point shooting, is what I'd say...

It's definitely a tough pace to keep up. They've played 4 games (not counting the play-in) and have shot under 46% from 3, once (38% against Purdue). In that Purdue game, they shot 57% from the field. There's no doubt that they got hot at the right time.

And for the record, I'd have put VT in the tourney over UAB.

Maybe the NCAA was on to something when they considered folding the NIT and expanding the NCAA tournament to 96 teams-some teams that made deep runs in the NIT (Wichita State, Colorado, Alabama, etc.) might have won a few games in the NCAA with the right matchups. The separation between teams in the middle of the pack doesn't seem to be that great.
