Quote:California’s state and local governments employ somewhere between 1.5 million and 2 million workers, representing 4 percent to 5 percent of the state’s total population
When one out of every 20 men, women, and children is employed by the state, most of them unionized, then you know things have gone too far. That's not even counting the people who are contracted by the state or stand alone businesses that work for the state.
You should see it out here - Grey Beard lives here, he knows - as soon as a proposal to save money is launched the unions go nuts. They all play the fear card - if you don't raise taxes your house fires won't be put out, no ambulance will save the heart attack victim, crime will run rampant, prisoners will be released, and our kids won't get a good education. The article even says that fire fighters sued to keep an initiative off the ballot. That means they're trying to control the vote. Who has that kind of power and how did they get it?
All you really need to know is that during the last election when the country shifted to the right, this state went further left and they even voted into office a dead candidate, that's right, dead. That's how uninformed Californians are, they either vote the way the union tells them to vote or they throw darts at a board. About a decade ago Rob "Meat Head" Reiner asked for, and got, a 50 cent tax per pack of cigarettes and he controls that money. How does that crap happen? How does one man get something placed on a ballot and then manage to get the majority of people to vote this guy an amazing amount of money?
And if all this wasn't bad enough, AB32 has gone into effect and this is California's version of cap and trade, it even has provisions for jailing car repair shops if they don't check tire pressure. For reals. What lunatics come up with this stuff?
So my answer is Brown can't save California. This state will go down the shitter, the feds will try to save it and it will still fail because every god damned union azzhole is going to say "take from him but not from me" and nothing will change with the exception that non-union people will pay more so the union folks can live better.
I will say this, though, Brown is at least standing by his word and is doing exactly what he said he would do while he was campaigning. I might not agree with his politics but i respect his honesty unlike that loser movie star we had before him.
