You should probably add Loyola Marymount to the big wins list. They were a big deal the year we played and beat them. It was the year after Hank Gathers died.

RE: Basketball Big Wins/Top Crowds
The only two men's crowds that really jump out at me are when we had Tennessee at home a few years ago and when we had WKU in for our "Pack the House" game in 2004. We had a long time professor and booster who was dying of cancer and wanted to see the Murphy Center packed one more time.

11,807 WKU
11,208 Tennessee

As far as big wins...jeesh...you'll have to ask someone who's been around longer than me. We beat Kentucky in the 80's...KAjun can probably supply a more complete list.

WKU:

Per the media guide:

In 1971 alone we beat 5 teams in the top 10. That same year we averaged 12,173 (ranking #10 in the country).

Just considering NCAA tournament wins:

Miami (FL), Ohio, Layola, Dayton, University of Kentucky, Ohio State, Kansas, Syracuse, Nebraska, West Virginia, Memphis, Seton Hall, Michigan, Drake, San Diego, and Illinios.

WKU has 33 wins against opponents ranked at the time (7 were among the NCAA tournament wins listed above). 13 of those wins were against top ten teams.

Among the ranked opponents vanquished:

Cincinnati, Louisville (several times), LaSalle, St. Boneventure, Indiana, St. John's, Providence, Purdue, UAB, Kentucky (twice).

stAte's signature win: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=aP8...tory&hl=en

Also, the Indians currently have a 5 game winning streak in the Mid-South Coliseum. Last 3 vs. Memphis, and 2 vs. Ole Miss.

My favorite was beating the sh!t out of Dale Brown's Tigers. They haven't been back to Jonesboro.

Come to think of it, I don't believe Oklahoma St. has been back since we beat them either. Or Cincinnati.

Also won an NIT game @ Stanford.
