2nd annual NCAABBS Sun Belt Baseball pickem contest
Alright, im going to try and run this again this year. I started teaching this past fall and in that time I learned how to manipulate Exel Spread sheets to do what I want.
With that in play I have decided to go with our annual pickem contest again. This year I am actually going to try and work out a prize for the winner, though im not entirely sure how that will work
Scoring and picking system
With UNO dropping out this sujmmer we went to 10 baseball teams creating an even number and assuring the mid conference bye week no longer exists, eliminating ridiculous tiebreak series involving ULM and a Grambling State type opponent. There are 5 series each week in conference and we will pick all 5
This year we are scoring on the point system, and it will be outlined in black and white, or in my case Bold and Italics.
Each correct pick = 2 points
Each incorrect Pick = 0 points
Each game cancelled because of weather or whatever= 1 point
Each Correctly picked sweep = 2 Bonus points
As a Bonus, For each correctly picked sweep, I will award that person 2 Bonus points. Meaning if you pick a sweep right you would get 6 points for wins and a 2 point bonus. However if it goes 0-3 the other way. Likewise while a 2-1 correct prediction will only earned you the 6 points for wins, you are guaranteed at least 2 points for each series you make a 2-1 prediction
In other words. you can take a risk, and pick a sweep and go for big points, or you can stay it safe and take the minimum.
Picking will begin with this week with nonconference. During nonconference play, I will only pick the top 5 SBC series of that week by matchup, and any 4 game series is automatically disqualified. PreSeason Tourney's like ASU in the Auburn Classic and South Alabama in the Dairy Queen Classic is fair game.
There are 14 regular season weeks this year, so I will drop your lowest 3 week totals. Meaning you can miss up to 3 weeks and still have a chance at this thing. Also that means the max points for a season is 440, with a max weekly total of 40 points or 8 points per series.
Games begin on Friday with opening day. So I would expect your week 1 picks to be out Tomorrow Night late.
All are invited to play, just remember I plan on winning. Even Z can play with his new positive self, though I will refer to his team as ULL for the entire year because I like to be safe on clarifications

Apparently nobody else in the Sun Belt has these kinds of games that you could make an example out of.

Not having baseball is just inhuman. It is America's pasttime, and the fastest growing NCAA sport.
Just apparently not in schools an hour north of Dallas

No to get the whole UL-X issue started again but it appears to me that UL-M doesn't mind UL-M or any variation thereof; however, UL doesn't like UL-L or its variants.
So since this is their home here, we can call UL, UL or Louisianna because it is there preference.
We have a very similar thing here with FAU. We prefer FIU (not Florida Int'l, etc) and FAU seems to like Florida Atlantic. Since these blog site are our homes, let's simply respect each others wishes.
Not too much to ask, is it?

Very nice post, thanks. Lets do this...either use UL, Louisiana or just call us Cajuns.
The very diplomatic Kajunraider does that!!
