Batter Up: Iran?
OK, which Middle East Nation is next to have a popular uprising? Some say Iran.

But given Obama's horrible handling of the last time the Iranian people went into the streets, would what happened in Cairo happen in Tehran?

I doubt it. The Iranian thug militias would be busting heads left and right.

That's why I hope "someone" has smuggled portable satellite video uplinks into Iran, to get the video out to the rest of the world. They are the size of a small suitcase, and you could cover the country with several in each major city for around $10-15 million. That's pocket money. Add in a shortwave radio station out of Saudi Arabia, etc.

"busting heads" is putting it mildly. I think they would bring out the heaviest artillery they have, and kill as many people as they think necessary to preserve their power.

Anyone so much as seen holding a cell-phone or a video-camera would be a target.

How about Libya? Or Jordan? Or Saudi Arabia?

Me thinks that there are quite a few despots who are feeling their seats get hotter and hotter in that part of the world. Nervous, I'm sure when wondering who is next.

I wish it would be Iran, but I have a feeling Yemen is more likely.

I would hope that it's Iran, but I think the green revolution gave them advance warning and allow the mullahs to consolidate power.

It will take more than tweets and Facebook flash mobs to dethrone the Mullahs in Iran and Hamas in Syria.

I think of your choices, it could be Yemen. A brewing storm of anti-Americanism, a weak central government, a disjointed military with strong ties to their local tribes, and thousands of square miles outside of any governmental control.

Yemen will bend as the local tribes blow. Watch the local warlords.

Perhaps you meant Homos? Hamas is in Gaza primarily, and the West Bank underground. The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank may well be the next to fall.

Syria is ruled by the Baath party, a distant relation to the Iraqi Baath Party. The ruling family is a religious minority in the region and the country that is barely considered Islamic depending on who you ask. They actually are somewhat likely to fall ... the regime is only able to survive as an Iranian client. Iran may be able to exploit their inherent instability and their foothold there to get an even more pro-Iranian state. The basic relationship with Hamas and Syria is that Syria hosts some of the Hamas leadership, which are occasionally targeted by Israel in response to some kind of terror attack.
