Kept the Suez open to international traffic for 30 years.

Ask us in 10 years, Mr. Armchair QB, when it's shut down and held hostage.

I can not expound upon your feelings. The question still remains if you wish to respond.

I wasn't asking you to "expound upon my feelings", but whatever.

It's a dark, corrupt, violent world. What little order and coherence that actually exist is largely based on actions undertaken by the United States. This includes paying bribes to various scumbags to keep some semblance of peace in the rough neighborhoods. Mubarek was one of them. I'm sure another one just as bad will take his place.

.............

The "America First" vision of foreign policy, espoused most notably in recent years by Patrick Buchanan, is one that I agree with to some extent. But that vision has been consistently rejected by the majority of Republicans and the majority of Democrats, pretty much ever since Pearl Harbor neaerly 70 years ago. Maybe someday the American people will reconsider that vision. I rather hope they do, but I don't really expect that to happen anytime soon. Until such time, America will continue to cut the best deals it can get with people like Mubarek, and plenty of other people much, much worse than him.

I understand the history and rationale of the decisions made in this intervention. Neither of us have a damn clue what will happen in 10 years or much less 1 year...so your contention is simply conjecture.

My question involves the "theft" of the fruits of our labors...something that is FACT.

This man has now been allowed to walk away after abusing his people for over 30 years(as a US puppet dictator) and live in the lap of luxury with zero consequences. He has pocked a vast fortune that came mostly from the the citizens of the US that were intended to help his people. This is the crux of my question...not some foreign policy stance that is now moot.

Reb...I am surprised you are defending this scumbag. I thought you were a lover of liberty?05-stirthepot

Thanks for quoting the NeoCon Manifesto. Good work. 04-bow

I wasn't quoting anything. Those are my own views.

If the NeoCons agree with me on some things, good for them. Whenever I'm around them, I try not to mention my admiration for Charles Lindbergh and my contempt for Franklin Roosevelt.
