RE: The End Is Near?
This site is pathetic. If the fans in here are representative of Cincy fans in general, no wonder they can't fill half the Shoe.

A loss to Depaul would have been painful no doubt, but thread after thread of hair pulling and Cronin hating is just disgusting.

Doesn't anyone pay attention to what's going on? Cincy's 19-5 right now. 4 more wins (including the BE Tourney) and they're in the NCAA!! Dispite what that dick Gotleib keeps saying. Palm has had them as a 6 seed for the past few weeks. And now X goes on the road to beat Georgia!

There are SIX teams in the RPI Top 40 right now that doesn't have a single Top 50 win. Cincy has two $$ wins!! There's 6-8 more who can't match that! And that putz Gotleib keeps talking about Cincy needing to inprove their resume. That's bullsheet! As it happens 3 more wins and they'll get a couple more anyway. Even Dayton is one win out of the Top 50 right now.

Arizona is #17 in the RPI and they have one $ win. An RPI #42 to go along with a 150+ loss. Purdue is #11, and they too only have one $ win. Just quit the hating and go check the numbers for yourself.

And this doesn't count the 3 more teams that will be invited this year.

68 teams will be invited this year. Show me 68 teams with a better resume than Cincy.

Unless they go 2-5 the rest of the way...they are in.

btw...Cincy's out of conference RPI has jumped up around 70 spots since Palm was ranking on their #335 OOC SOS. And just watch...all those pathetic teams Cincy beat have been winning since conference play started. And they will continue to do so.

Oh yeah. And no more chances to get a bad loss this year. Unless it happens in NY. How many teams can say that?

Heck, 3 times last night ESPN showed UC's resume and had Cuse, ND and WVU listed as "significant losses."

Nuts.

Great post! The facts don't lie.
Of course the team didn't finish the second half strong and I can see how that won't instill confidence for the remaining part of the schedule. But a Big East win is a Big East win. It ain't always going to be pretty.
Just take care of our home court.

That is exactly right.

But it is difficult to sell "glass half full" to people harboring hope that the water finds its way out before the line level goes up.

I have never been more sure that there are a massive percentage of "fans" inwardly rooting for a negative outcome that would force a change and vindicate their opinions.

that's life on the message boards. Get use to it.

How many of you accused huggs of not being able to coach offense? ( I'm raising my hand) can't seal the deal with recruits so he has to settle for juco's? (still in the air) yanks young players from the game too early and not giving them a chance? (still grabbing the sky).

i'm just saying this is how it works. I don't get this mothers love some of you have for mick that make you feel he's above being questioned the way other coaches and teams across the nation get.

I checked a UT site just to see how their fans behave and a thread that jumped out at me was Pearl's Substitutions Cost us Momentum....Again

sound familiar?

I checked duke after they lost to st. johns and coach K was blamed for not having enough "Street Ballers" to deal with a st. johns.

poor roy williams. I read a post where some were saying he was only good because he had daugherty's players. think about that one.

some of us were brought up on UC being the underdog. Too small, juco's, weak conference, short bench, disrespected.

Admittedly, I have trouble with the woe is me attitude and the answer to improving is lowering the bar.

It is St. John's, Providence, Marquette, maybe 1 other road game, and 1 homegame against UL, UConn or Gtwn.

He is not going anywhere unless they go 1-6 down the stretch. I told ya in post #1 last night was the chance to root against UC if you want him gone. Team is going to exceed last years win total AND most fans reasonable expectations for the year (although I admit guys like you, Sub, Big Dawg, etc did have them winning more than 20....vast majority did not).
Quote:----------------------
Diatribe follows:
Even if we do get into the NCAA tournament this year, do not expect a huge increase in ticket sales next season. Among the fanbase, there is not a lot of confidence in Mick as a coach. We have doubts, and it will
take a couple of 23+ seasons for that to change. It may not be deserved, but that is the way it
is.
Rhetorical Q. What other fanbase in a city this size, in a conference like this would need several 23 win seasons to support the program at even a moderate level?
Quote:Mick is a great guy, but he did not have the charisma or demeanor to make us believers when things
were down, and he hasn't delivered in dramatic fashion.
I ask everyone these questions.
Dramatic fashion? What is that exactly with where we started? Ask Jamie Dixon. Think his views on the issue were pretty well documented.

Quote:1. Do you believe that Mick Cronin is a coach who in the next 3 years can win a Big East championship?
No effing way.....though I am on record that that coach doesn't exist in this space - time continuum. Maybe in the Bizarro Universe where less money = better facilities, coaches, recruits, etc.

Quote:2. In the next 4 years, can Mick take UC to the final four?
Could they win 4 some March? Maybe. I might get a try out with the Reds in the next 4 years as well.

Quote:If he can't, there is someone out there we've probably never considered who can, and for the same (or less) amount of money.

See answer to #1 & #2..

As I've said before, I hope Mick turns into a great coach.

Do I have the patience to sit and watch him take 10 years to become that great coach? I doubt it. This learning on the job stuff is testing to fans.

Louisville, West Virginia, UConn, Syracuse, Pitt, Villanova, Georgetown, and Notre Dame all have coaches who regularly not only get to the NCAA Tournament, but often go far. That is the usual top 8 of the standings in the Big East conference.

Then you factor in Lavin taking over St. Johns and having an outstanding recruiting class coming in. Everyone would agree that Buzz Williams has Marquette overachieving and they are the surprise of the Big East this year. That is the top 10 spots probably yearly. Then Rutgers coach, Rice, has that team playing hard. USF is playing hard. Depaul played hard last night.

I just don't see Mick as an elite coach in this conference. He isn't even in the top 10, let alone top 12. Which more than likely adds up to finishing yearly in the bottom half or the bottom 4.

Good post B.

I like to read other boards as well, especially those in the BE, for game reactions and to gather any info on recruiting. It can get pretty silly around here after losses, but I have to say we are pretty tame compared to other boards.

Just check out this 5 page beauty from the WVU board titled "Is Coach Huggins clueless???"
