Tougher than you think.

got half of them right...I would have gotten more, but I had a lot of misspellings!

Fun though--one of my favorite songs and favorite bands...saw them at the Coliseum in a twin bill with Billy Squier for the Hot Space tour...best show I ever saw live...

Wow! That must have been freakin awesome!

Anybody else remember q102 DJ (I think it was Mark Sebastian) playing "Everybody Wants You" like 20 times in a row before they interceded and made him stop? I'm sure it was all a publicity stunt, but still. Good stuff.

Wow. Flashback city.

I was listening when Sebastian pulled that stunt. Supposedly he locked the door to DJ Booth.

RE: Can you name the words to Bohemian Rhapsody?
I got 33 out of 46.

Most were typos or I have been singing the wrong word for years.......funny.

"Is this just fantasy"........I put "Is it just fantasy"..........

I put "very, very frightening" and there is one more word which I forgot

Couldn't remember the word after "figaro"

And for "Can't do this to me baby" and came close but didn't have it quite right.

Oh well. Great song.

I missed where it says "guitarists name"... I had to spell things a ton of different ways before getting them... love this though. Song lyrics are my jam.

RE: Can you name the words to Bohemian Rhapsody?
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (Poor boy)
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life has just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody
I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, oooooooh (Anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
Sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
(Galileo) Galileo (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro
Magnifico-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
Let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go
Let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go
Let me go (Will not let you go)
Let me go (Will not let you go) (Never, never, never, never)
Let me go, o, o, o, o
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Oh mama mia, mama mia) Mama Mia, let me go
Beelzebub has the devil put aside for me, for me, for me!

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here

(Oooh yeah, Oooh yeah)

Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me

Any way the wind blows...

I knew all of you spent too much time listening to crap radio, other than G man, of course, but your love of Queen confirms it. As for seeing Queen and hillbilly Squier, I'd sooner have a root canal.

Honest to goodness men, come to your senses. Had you spent more time listening to better music you wouldn't be so tense all the time. Hillbilly Squier and Queen........the horror.

Sorry--I love powerful voices--Mercury had one of the most amazing I've ever heard--of course....Queen was before your time beck (I'm guessing)...it's back when music was more energetic and positive. Guitar heroes were everywhere. I was brought up on a 2-4 beat with strong vocals for the most part. My first concert was for the 2nd Boston album...my last concert was for the last Boston album....go figure....

Saw the Police on their 1st farewell tour...
Saw Deep Purple on their comeback tour...
Saw the Rolling Stones....even though that album was lousy, the concert was awesome--they sang "Little Red Rooster" for an encore...that's good stuff.

Of the more modern crop of bands, I can think of a few I like:

Rhino Bucket
New American Shame
Soundgarden
Living Colour (the 1st album)

I quit listening to radio when rap showed up--people quit singing and started talking...no fun for me...I want to hear people carry a tune.

But my a lot of my old standards have kept on going:

Aerosmith
The Eagles
The Rolling Stones
Elton John
AC/DC
Rush

I can forgive corny lyrics if the vocals hold it up...

BTW--best musical voices I've ever heard (many genres here) (male):

Otis Redding (RIP)
Freddie Mercury (RIP)
Roy frickin' Orbison for sure (RIP)
David Ruffin (RIP)
Little Richard
Nat "King" Cole (RIP)
Rod Stewart
Wilson Pickett (RIP)
Ray Charles (RIP)
George Jones
Frank Sinatra (RIP)
Robert Plant
Michael Jackson (RIP)
Elvis Presley (RIP)
Paul Rodgers
Ronnie James Dio (RIP)
Elton John
Roger Daltrey
Steven Tyler (the early stuff--while he was on drugs...not the later stuff...)

Those are just a few at the top of my list...for the females....I'd have to think--there's a bunch I like...just don't know what order to put them in....

That's just me!

It was--they lowered Mercury and a grand piano from above stage and he started playing the opening to "Killer Queen"...

The only moment more amazing was the Page/Plant tour at the Coliseum when they played "Kashmir" with a full orchestra--closest I ever came to seeing Zep live. I was also most impressed with "Thank You" from ZepII...

Those were the days...

RE: Can you name the words to Bohemian Rhapsody?
I thank you for that but I am 56. I had a friend that was wired in to Queen when their first album came out and we had tickets to see them at Reflections , in Clifton, with Mahogany Rush as opening act. We show up for the show and they say Queen didn't like the stage so they took off and it is Mahogany Rush for free. They refunded our tix and we went to Ky to the ballet instead.

Still can't stand all that flamboyant bombast Quenn put out but to each his own. That's the beauty of music, something out there for everyone.

That is a pretty good list. First concert was down at Riverfront coliseum, Ted Nugent, with Southside Johnny & Asbury Jukes as the opening act.
1978 maybe?
Have to admit that I am more of 70's - 80's rock guy. A few bands that emerged from the Grunge era I like. Always like the Boss, the Who, Allman Bros., Eric Clapton.

Surprisingly, this is a big karaoke song. Usually it's butchered, but one night I was out and some dude got up and said, "This is my first time ever singing."

He nailed it. Brought the house down.

I saw Queen at the University of Toledo Student Union back in the 70's before they were all that big. The opening band was Kansas and it was half a buck for the show. I saw them again with Thin Lizzie about a year later when they were selling out everything, still a good show.

I think I have the whole Queen collection on the iPod...not sure why though. Other than Stone Cold Crazy off of Sheer Heart Attack I skip their tracks when ever their stuff pops up.

Besides, IMHO Muse does Queen far better than Queen ever did Queen.

C'mon Rath--you've got to be overlooking some great stuff that didn't hit radio:

Fight from the Inside
Tie your Mother Down
Someone to Love
I'm in Love With My Car (one of my personal favorites--because it's so ridiculous)
Sail Away Sweet Sister
Save Me
Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy
Get Down, Make Love
It's Late (another one of my personal favorites)
Death on Two Legs
I Want to Break Free
The Show Must Go On

Go back and give that catalog a listen--you'll be surprised how rich it is--particularly the early stuff...

Charlie Rich
Jerry Lee Lewis
Marshall Tucker
Johnny Cash
Mountain
Creedence

Fave picks from each of these--I love it...

Do you remember Don Kirschner's Rock Concert?

I remember Kirschners Rock Concert, what a riot. Blood Sweat and Tears, what a great band. Down at Caddy's The Menu's use to cover a few of their songs back in the early 90's. Really liked Marshall Tucker.
