If the protests were in the US?
Would our President handle things differently if anti government protestors showed up in every major US city disrupting normal business. How would our President react if militant groups like the KKK or The New Black Panther Party joined the protests adding potential for a violent uprising. It would not be in anyone's best interest to have the government taken over by the leaders of such protests. Best case a divided nation would come out of the mess, worst case a brutal dictator that needs to use force to put down all of the opposition groups.

My guess is that BO's first thought would be "now, where's that plug so I can turn off the internet?"

At least the conspiracy theory mongers would have a field day.

I think the really interesting question for us would be which way the army would shoot--at us or at them. A generation ago, I'm pretty sure it would have been at them. I'm not so sure any more.

The Federal gov't could not get involved unless the state's governor asked for help. Which case, marshal law would be declared.

And just who would enforce that?

USSC, as they did in the 1880's.

A generation ago, I wouldn't have had to ask whom do you mean by "us" and "them"?
