As for "We're not threatened militarily by any country", that's utterly insane. He uses that warped logic to form his opinion that we should scale back the military to extremely low levels, but is apparently too ignorant or obtuse to understand that the might of our military is WHY they're not about to bow the **** up at us. Remove that military and it won't work out too well for us.

All RP ever asked before the invasion of Iraq was that we do it with a declaration of war. That was his primary objection based on constitutional principles. Yet...He is called a Kook and unpatriotic.01-wingedeagle

If you don't like the military having their "hands tied behind their backs" ..then you should applaud RP.03-idea If that declaration had been make formally...then...our military would have had this BS wrapped up very quickly... as YOU have advocated. It is the continued half-assed sending of troops into battle without the mission of "kicking the living crap" out of the enemy that has gotten us to this point. Damn civilians...Damn earning the "hearts and minds" of the populations!!! We are talking about WAR!!! Either be in it to unconditionally win..or..stay the hell out.03-banghead

Just how many more times are we going to waste the lives of our brave servicemen and women without being FULLY committed to the battle?03-puke

This country will never, ever declare war again. Read DU. Many to the left think this country is the worst country on Earth. The bane on society. Hell, read some of the words of Democratic congressmen/women.

I'll go ahead and say it, there are people in this country that want to see the destruction of this country. Some of those are in Congress. Liberalism IS a mental disorder.

My comments were in defense of RP and the fact that he agrees with you in regard to sending troops into harms way without FULL support of our nation in a formal declaration of war. The endless RP bashing in regard to his military policies is total nonsense. He has ALWAYS maintained the need for a strong defense. It is the unconstitutional interventionism that sends our sons and daughters into harms way that he opposes....I also oppose that policy.

Military action or Armed response circumvents the constitutionally required declaration of war by the congress. This allows the president more control.

I don't bash RP. I just occasionally jump in between he and other people during his daily proverbial blowjob.

No argument from me on a strict constitutional basis.

I think we all must agree that that line has blurred so far in regard to the founders original intent and even the WPA...that now it has officially become policy by De facto.

We entered WWII and mopped it up within 4 years because America was totally committed to victory. Every conflict since has not had that commitment. No wonder after 10 damn years...we have made very little progress in our "war on terror".01-wingedeagle

A formal declaration of war enables our armed forces to draft conscripts...declare marshall law and execute those that oppose it. It also allows us to fight the enemy with much less restraint in regard to civilian deaths. This current pansyassed paradigm of warfare is totally BS and puts our sons and daughters in dangerous peril.03-banghead

A formal declaration of war puts EVERYONE into the process. That is the way it should be. ALL IN...or nothing.05-stirthepot

Our civilian leaders lack a commitment to victory. As Reb said, there are people that want our military to fail, our country to fail. It pains me.

In to win, or don't go in.

That probably means we should get a declaration of war from congress, among other things. I'm fine with that. These half-ass undeclared wars are killing us.

This...The WPA has given the POTUS the ability to wage wars that the nation is not committed to. Having that formal declaration "unties" the hands of the warriors and allows them to do what they are trained to do..Kill. All this "hearts and minds" crap puts them in danger and causes protracted conflict that is bankrupting America.
