1) if he meant brother as in "brother-in-Christ", then well... yeah If he meant brother as in fellow human being, then he isn't a Christian no matter what he claims

2) as un-intelligent or Un-Christian as I find the comment to be, he has the right to his opinions, just like everyone else. I can think someone is "not my brother" and still treat them equally. If I write laws favoring my "brothers", then that is a bigger issue

I understand your point. However, try to see it from my point of view.

If he had said, "Everyone here who is a Christian, you are not my brother, my sister." and he was the newly elected Governor of your state...how would you feel?

But he did not do that... He did not pick one groups to exclude... He picked one group to include...

The equivalent would be "how would you feel if your Governor was a Buddhist" and said I consider Buddhist to be my brothers but I will be a governor of all the people (which is more or less what your gov said)..

I believe Obama has said the same thing... describing Republicans as ENEMIES. He's clearly a Democrat who has promised to supposedly reflect my views, or at least not trample upon them... and yet he calls me an Enemy?? In terms of "how I feel"?? A politicians claimed religious views are some of the least of my concerns. Not tooting her horn, merely stating something I know... Sarah Palin, self-professed STRONG Christian Governor of a VERY conservative, anti-gay state... VETOED a bill that had already passed the State Legislature banning state benefits to domestic partners. Why would she do that? Whom did she have to impress?? Somebody argued that she "knew" the State Supreme Court would overturn it, but those same people claim she's an idiot (and Obama, who has already twice been WRONG on how the SCOTUS would decide something is brilliant??) and it still doesn't explain why she felt a need to put her political capital at risk against something most of the state wanted. IOW... while I suspect she thinks homosexuals are "sinners", she wouldn't legislate against them. I'm more interested in what they do than in the interpretation of a snippet of a speech directed at a particular audience.

I see the Gov's comments differently than others. I see them as nothing more that political. He was addressing a MLK ceremony in which that type of rhetoric plays well. You do the math.03-lmfao

He has a right to say what ever the hell he wants...He also must be ready to answer for what he says. I doubt there are many to answer to in Alabama that do not agree with him. Playing to your strengths is always a winning strategy.04-cheers

Agree 100%

There is something disturbing about that thought. Although probably true, it does say what scumbags our politicians can be.

I've felt that way since 20Jan09 when your President was elected.

Welcome to the club.
