RE: BUCS BASEBALL 2011
Paul Hoilman drafted in the 19th round by the Cubs. Jay is probably doing a jig of joy somewhere. My gut says they'll send him to Boise.
Derek Trent drafted in the 31st round by the Pirates. He could end up at State College with his hitting ability, but they might send him to Florida with three catchers already vying for time with the Spikes.
Bo Reeder drafted in the 36th round by the Mariners. If he signs, he'll be in the Arizona League. Personally, I'd like to see him be able to hit a breaking ball consistently before he turns pro. You know what, forget consistently: hitting it at all would be nice.

Draft totals:
ETSU - 3
Mercer - 4
FGCU - 2 and an incoming freshman
Stetson - 3
Jacksonville - 2 and an incoming freshman
UNF - 1 and an incoming freshman
Campbell - 1
USC Upstate - 1 incoming freshman

Are the Tennessee Smokies affiliated with the Cubs?

Yes, but there's no way Paul will be playing AA ball right away.

A couple of Science Hill players were also drafted last week: pitcher Daniel Norris (2nd round, 74th overall) by Toronto, and former catcher Matt Rice (9th round, 300th overall) by Tampa Bay out of Western Kentucky.

The same thing that's been going on for the last year. Nothing.

I drive by the new stadium site frequently and although there is a nice sign up stating that it is the site of Buc Baseball, the project is still at the grading stage. I would say it is going very slowly.

All at the same time that the apartments next door, which started at the exact same time- are almost ready to open.

Its the difference in a private company that has a bottom line to care about, and a public university AD who has nobody to answer to (at least nobody that cares)

I think I heard WJHL say tonight that Reeder wouldn't be back with ETSU. I didn't hear the complete story, but assume that means he's taking the pro offer with the Mariners.....
