That may be true but Middle Tennessee plays in a stronger conference.

Miami is apparently good in big games too, seeing that they beat NIU in the MAC title game. I wonder how the coaching situation(s) will affect them.

I'm still leaning toward Middle Tennessee State. Northern Illinois doesn't possess the speed of Middle Tennessee State which explains why the defensive secondary was lit up for 333 yards passing by Miami's Austin Boucher in the MAC title game. It also explains why Miami's bigs were able to hold NIU to only 92 yards rushing despite an 8th-ranked rushing offense.

Middle Tennessee State poses match-up problems for Miami University because of the team speed. Defensively, MTSU must find a way to get to Boucher and may have to use its speed to gang-tackle Thomas Merriweather in case he gets the carry, and he will get plenty of touches. Miami's going to try to hurt MTSU from the air first in order to open up the run for Merriweather.

Maybe we can get enough speed from the ends to at least pressure the QB. I hope you guys are right about team speed. We looked slow against CMU a few years back...not to mention small.

I was looking and interestingly enough this game will have SEC officials. Unusual to see an SEC crew assigned to an SBC/Mac game

Good news. SEC officials are some of the best. Hopefully, they'll throw a bone to a Southern school. I know that MT has had some games vs. the $EC using Sun Belt refs, and our folks say that they'd rather have the SEC officials, since many of the SBC's haven't a clue.
