More home colored turf on the way?
Eastern Washington, who you should all remember installed that hideous red turf before the start of the season, beat Villanova last night to make it to the FCS national championship. They went 8-0 at home and with the win tied their program record for wins in a season(12). Now I'm not saying that they aren't a good team, a colored field can only help a team so much, but you have to wonder if teams who are already looking to install new turf sometime soon will look at the season EWU had and think "why not?".

RE: More home colored turf on the way?
Last night I was wondering to myself if the press and brand recognition that they received for being the second team to have a team color field maybe payed off in recruiting (seeing as how they got to the title game and all).

Of course that is a gimmick that would wear off if other teams tried to emmulate it.

Villanova had a good team, I wondered about what kind of distraction playing on that colored surface was for them.

EWU and BOISE ST utilize the colored surface in different ways. EWU wears the black uniforms and makes that red surface stand out that much more. BOISE wears the solid blue on top of the blue turf they use it more like camoflauge. Each very affective in their own way. The schools also have the advantage staring at the surface for long period of time gets your eyes use to seeing that little brown football in the air against that bright surface.

Meh. North Texas has been doing school-color turf for years.

But then again, white turf with green yard strips in the new stadium could be just the ticket for UNT. Just saying.

Each ticket comes with two Excedrin for the inevitable headache from squinting your eyes for 3 hours.

If EWU ever wants to mix it up, a black field (with black end zones) would be cool. The only problem is that a brown football doesn't stand out very well on the black turf.
