NCAA investigation into ASU closed. Sanctions enforced
Looks like our whole Grade saga is over with.

NCAA found we committed numerous violations, but did so via an unintentional mistake, and thus they are secondary violations.

We vacate all our wins from the 2006 football season, 4 of our wins from the 2005 football season. And lose 1 scholarship in Football the next 2 seasons

Mens Basketball vacates essentially every victory from the final 2 years of the Dickey Nutt Error. and loses 1 scholarship each of the next years

Considering Basketball is already serving a 1 scholarship penalty for APR, that means the team will go 3 straight years without a full allotment of scholarships.

We also vacate 3 baseball games from 2005, but that program avoided any further sanctions

Is this a joke?

EDIT: Just read the ark board. Seems like its true. I assume it also means Troy didn't lose a single sunbelt game in 2006, giving Troy the outright sunbelt title, meaning MTSU has to vacate its shared title? Anyone know the fine line on that one?

I'm assuming Troy would also vacate its loss to ASU, making Troy an undefeated squad?

cool your jets, "vacate" doesn't equal "forfeit"

All because of rounding errors? Who said you wouldn't need math when you grew up?

Wins are vacated. The losses stay.

If you lost to a team that vacated their wins that season, it stays a loss. If you beat that team, it stays a win for you.

Pretty much.

RE: NCAA investigation into ASU closed. Sanctions enforced
Basically the core problem boiled down to two issues.

1. ASSuming that the way you learned to round numbers in grade school applied to calculating GPA's and degree progress in the NCAA.
2. Failing to comprehend that the required number of credits to be eligible aren't the required number of credits if a student-athlete is in a degree program requiring more than the average number of credits.

Take-away lesson:
If you hire an assistant AD from another school and that school later goes on probation, have a third party check their work to make sure that mistakes aren't being repeated.

oh no you still lost that game. You just lost to Bye instead of MTSU and Bye happened to be a sun belt member that year

yeah but there were some differences between our two cases.

Ours was a result of our administration failing to review an Assistant AD,who had literally caused this same problem at another school.

Yours was because John Calipari is a lying cheat.

Actually I'd describe it like this.

ASU wasn't worried about what it didn't know but should have double-checked.
Memphis wasn't worried about what it did know and should have double-checked.

Memphis should have applied for the Auburn expedited review :)

hell, the NCAA never proved Derrick didn't take his SAT...they simply said they couldn't prove his did take his SAT...that was enough for them.

So ASU vacates victories and losses scholarships due to rounding errors but Auburn out-bids other SEC members for QB talents and plays in the Nat' Champ game and wins Heisman.

WOW! Gotta' love the NCAA. (I wish there was a middle finger 'smilie').
