MWC doesn't NEED to expand to 12 just to have a championship game...there is no one they can add that justifies "splitting the pie" 2 more ways.

What pie? Apple, Blueberry, or Lemon Meringe?

This is about expanding your footprint and exposure. More opportunities to be seen which brings eventually more money. What is the point of having a Marquee if you are afraid to turn it on? Both the Sun Belt and the MWC are going to have to start acting and playing like big dawgs. If you play for scraps, you get scraps.

The SEC, PAC 12, B1G 10, CUSA, and ACC all now have championship games and the Big 12 had one until the lost of Colorado and Nebraska. Why? Because it creates more hype for your teams which brings in more money. Which increases the "Money" Pie.

GET IT!

I have to ask,

Would ANYONE in the College Football world, (Other then 'Belt member Fans) watch or care about a Sun Belt Championship game?

I honestly think no.

They wouldn't care, but they might watch... which is all that matters. Think about how you feel about the MAC championship game. If it's the only game, you would probably watch... at least for a little while.

Cha Ching!

If we do not support the Sun Belt, why would anybody else. When FIU, FAU, UNT, and USA start putting 35,000 in the seats every weekend the money will start to arrive as well from sponsors.

the MWC doesn't stand a chance of making the kind of money a conference like the SEC or Big 10 makes...and adding a championship game simply doesn't justify the cost of bringing in 2 more teams...

as i said, the Boise AD agrees...

Another reason the MWC might not want a Championship game would be the possibility of knocking their own team out of a BCS bowl. For instance, if they had a championship game this year, they would run the risk of one of their own having one more shot at TCU, possibly on a neutral field. If TCU lost such a game, bye bye Rose Bowl and all the dough that goes with it.

Unless there is a chance that a conference could make really big money from a championship game, why expose your champion to the risk?

But all of us are a WAYS off from hitting that number on a consistent basis.

As to the MAC championship game, I vaguely recall that somebody got upset in it but I coudlnt tell you the teams or what day it was played. I think a Sun Belt Championship would probably be have the same sort of memory in anyone other then a 'Belt members fan.

Im not sold on a championship game at all. At least not untill the confrence has grown a bit more in perception.

One reason I would be against a championship game, because 2 divisions would mean an unequal schedule. For instance, all bowl teams were from the East this year. Let's say we had 12 teams this year, and the Cajuns (for instance) had to play both Troy and FIU in the East, while North Texas had WKU and a startup USA ?

That brings up another question.... what will we do with scheduling when USA comes into the Belt ? Do we play every team but one ? Which lucky team gets to avoid Troy ?

[sarcasm] By the time that USA enters in 2013, it will be which team is lucky to avoid playing USA. 05-stirthepot [/sarcasm]
