UL-Lafayette: Sources tell us that Mississippi State wide receivers coach Mark Hudspeth has accepted the head coaching position at Lafayette. We hear that Hudspeth plans to offer positions to Troy offensive coordinator / inside receivers coach Kenny Edenfield and former Mississippi State assistant Reed Stringer.

Nice hire. If we hadn't had Freeze, he would have been one of the ones I wanted ASU to go after.

Does Hudspeth have a connection to Edenfield? I can't imagine ULL being able to offer that much more money than Troy to make him consider leaving, without some sort of previous connection.

Dont trust footballscoop.com. Those names may be correct but although he is getting his staff together, they havent come up in conversation

Sounds like we'll have about 1 million available for assts... how how divides that up I have NO idea...

Then you wouldn't have a clue. The assistant coaches salaries will put UL near the top of the SBC.

My point was not that the University of Louisiana at Lafayette couldn't afford to pay Edenfield more than Troy currently is, simply that I don't think the University of Louisiana at Lafayette would offer a contract that Troy wouldn't at least come close enough to matching that Edenfield's decision wouldn't be simply about money.

$150,000 per coordinator, that's the number I was given.

Kenny Edenfield used to be OC when Hudspeth was coach at UNA. Edenfield though has been waiting for years to get back to Troy. He was part of Troy's national championship team, and I believe his son walked-on at Troy. On top of that, he has a chance to be next in line for head coach at Troy. I just don't see him leaving the good situation he has at Troy for Louisiana... crazy things happen though.

He wasn't offered the OC position, it is Steve Campbell's to turn down. I was just letting him know we are committing more money to the assistant salaries to help him get the staff he wants.

Hudspeth was one of the finalists for the ULM position last year. If Berry had not taken the job we wouldn't have minded having him at all. It's a good hire for the Cajuns.

He turned down the job before you got Berry, ULM couldn't give him more money for assistants.
