This is why FIU's stadium is getting built in stages and we are now only playing 1 - 1 for the next 4 years. I hope you are right ArkStFan and I hope our fan base responds and grows accordingly. Ofcourse, we have the benefit of a pretty high athletic fee and 42,000 students to cover some shortfall.

Actually they don't need the games to balance their budget if they pay salaries in line with what their revenue is and quit trying to keep up on things like indoor practice facilities and play prettys they claim they need for recruiting.

Have the patience to develop a fan base by winning one or two more games a year by playing a competitive schedule and you can afford those things 5 or 10 years down the road rather than today.

I think Jerry Jones would gladly set up Championship game for the Non AQ's.

Let the bowls be just what they are,,,, another chance to party.

Let the championship be determined on the field!

Go Non AQ schools! Go Sun Belt! Go Jags!

With all due respect, are you crazy? A non-AQ national championship at Dallas stadium? I'm having problems thinking of a single non-AQ matchup that would fill half that stadium. What if this year FIU upset TCU and Miami(OH) beat UCF. You'd have a 6-6 Sun Belt team that averages roughly 15k with over a 1300 mile drive and a 9-4 MAC team that averages roughly 15k and has close to a 1,000 mile drive. If that game drew 15k, I would be beyond shocked.

No one would take the game seriously, what's more, do you really think TCU would pass up the Rose Bowl for this? On any given year a non-AQ that could potentially bust the BCS wouldn't want to touch this playoff with a forty foot pole. What's more, we'd be doing exactly what the AQ conferences want. We'd be passing up millions of dollars and they'd have another spot or two for some 11-1 or 10-2 team that didn't win their conference.

While I personally disagree with the very idea in the first place, to play devil's advocate, if you were going to do it, much like a Sun Belt championship, for you to have any chance at it being successful, it would need to be played on the home field of the higher ranked team, at least until the game built some momentum and prestige, which I'm not even sure would happen.

FIU plan: Get bigger quickly

Florida International University is considering an aggressive growth strategy that will boost enrollment by 20,000 new students during the next decade.

I think FIU has nothing to worry about.

How can FIU add another 20,000 students?

Simple, we have the largest feeder institution in the country. Miami Dade (Community) College has 161,000 students. Also remember that Dade County has a greater population than 15 states and neighboring Broward is larger than 12 states (Dade and Broward combined are about the pop. of Kentucky = 4.3M). Our key challenge will be to maintain academic excellence while growing the student body. The space will be found in the adjacent Tamiami Park/Dade County Fair Grounds....plenty of space once the decisions are made.

RE: Arrogance
Here is the problem with the arrogance of those commisioners...especially the Big Ten. You don't like testifying in front of Congress, just try to create "serious consequences" against the non-AQ conferences. The reason you were testifying before congress is due to the fact that you were seen as keeping out a school who just happens to be from a state with a powerful senator. Congress tends to look at things like collusion and that is exactly what the 6 AQ conferences did....they colluded to create large bowls with hundreds of millions of dolllars that fill the cofers of those conferences and attempted to keep out any school that may have put together a very good team. Why can congress get invovled? Well, Interstate Commerce, which is exactly what this is....hundreds of millions of dollars from major corporations going to select schools and those schools conspiring to make sure other schools do not get a cut.

Now, I am not a "share the wealth" kind of guy but teams like Boise, TCU and Utah who have performed at a high level deserve a shot. As long as you have preseason polls, BCS computers, and pundits who know where their bread is buttered, you will have access problems. The only way to get rid of that is a playoff....all conference champions and 5 at large....4 weeks...one champion decided on the field.

I think that would only further the perception that we're beneath them. It would appear to be a "division 2 (respective to the BCS) championship"

FCS already does this, doesn't get them anywhere in the eyes of the BCS and it doesn't make their NC better than the BCS NC. They're still a division below us.

RE: Arrogance
There is a real simple way to end this nonsense in congress.

In one of these bills add a provision to change the student loan
requirements.

All schools that want to take part in the Federal student loan
program and sponsors athletics must be in an organization
that allows equal access to all schools that are classified the
same level by the ncaa or naia.

If a national championship is awarded in your classification all schools in the same
classification must have the same access to that championship.
Schools that elect to exclude other schools equal access on some criteria will
not be eligible to be a part of any student loans issued or guaranteed by the U.S.
Government.

End of Story......
