I wasn't. I would love to see the SBC sweep, but we'll be fortunate to win one of those games. Please prove me wrong,Belt bowlers.
You think we'll be fortunate to win "1" of the games? It's the MAC, they're on the same level as us, every game is a toss up.
Wrong, we had 6 teams bowl eligible as a conferance, we get better OOC wins, and have 7 schools ranked higher than any SBC team by Sagarin. We are the second worst FBS conferance but the worst is the SBC and really its not that close.
Wrong. Just a taste of why that's so wrong is one of these 6 "bowl eligible" teams that the MAC fans are so proud of.
Western Michigan (6-6) has one win over FCS Nicholls St, Ball St.(4-8) who played 2 FCS teams and only managed to win one of them, Akron (1-11), Eastern Michigan (2-10), Kent St. (5-7) who's only win against an FBS winning program was actually a so called "quality" Ohio team, and Bowling Green (2-10). The bottom 5 teams of the MAC have no more than 2 conference wins each which provides in-conference cake walk games for the "so called" quality MAC teams.
As has been discussed over and over, the MAC has a grand total of one quality win to it's credit. Temple beat UCONN....that's it. The MAC played 8 more FCS teams than the SBC and managed to lose two of them.....SBC won it's only two FCS games. Toledo was 1-3 in ooc play with one of the losses to a Wyoming team that won only two games against FBS opponents. Ouch! Toledo did produce a win over Purdue this year. The only problem is that Purdue's only wins came against an FCS team, Ball St., Minnesota, and Northwestern.
The top teams matched up in the GMAC Bowl just a year ago and played into overtime before CMU won. Pretty competitive I'd say.
I still can't get any of these MAC fans to address why the people who bet hard cash on these bowl games liked the SBC teams so much when the lines first posted. The Troy line has moved 4 full points so far, MT went from plus 5 to plus 1.5, and the FIU line moved 2 points. Only a hand full of bowl lines have moved more than a point in either direction. The people betting the cash to make these lines move could care less about the conference politics and bias. They just want to win.
Sadly for MAC fans, the conferences are pretty even this year even though it's been a down year for the SBC and banner year for the MAC. The MAC is stuck in neutral just like the region that it inhabits.
