FIU in Little Ceasars Bowl
How do FIU fans/Sun Belt fans feel about going all the way to Detroit for a Toledo home game...
Should be fun for us, but i am concerned for the LCB that FIU wont bring 2,000 fans. Its better then a MAC vs. MAC game but still. MTSU is closer to Detroit I thought that would have been the more logical choice.

FIU is too new of a school (no fan base), same problem at FAU for bowls.... we don't travel well. So it's better to fit the other teams in the other bowl spots, and knowing Toledo in OH will bring enough fans to the D.

But you guys should have yourself a good game, they gave a handful of BCS teams a good scare this year, when they are on, they are ON.

GO SBC!

MTSU has a proven bowl ticket sales record, third pick of the Sun Belt wasn't getting MTSU.

I doubt the Motor Pizza Bowl was terribly worried about ticket sales when the deal with the Sun Belt was cut. We don't have a single team that has a fan base that can easily drive without fans leaving on Christmas Day.

I wish FIU the best of luck, it should be a good game like last year in Miami.

I dont understand why the SBC is the back up agreement, the Big10 never fills its slot. Why does the first choice from our conferance have to play the third from yours.(attendance wise not because the MAC is better than the belt) Granted Toledo isn't the best team in our conferance and FIU should be a good match up but still, on paper MAC1 vs. SBC3 isn't too appealing to the average NCAA football fan.

I think the bowl in Detroit's biggest problem is that it is in Detroit. The bowl organizers probably signed this deal with the SBC because nobody else really wanted to. That's honestly not meant as a shot at the MAC, but Christmas in Detroit doesn't have a very nice ring to it. This is another example of a geographical advantage that our conference has.

RE: FIU in Little Ceasars Bowl
MAC-B10 in Detroit makes sense. The bowl sells its sponsorships and local tickets on that match-up even though it isn't likely to happen.

WKU is the only school clearly closer to Detroit than New Orleans or Mobile. With the exception of the Florida schools and maybe North Texas, all of our schools have fan bases very familar with the trips to New Orleans and Mobile because we go to New Orleans to party and come through Mobile for the annual summer trip to the redneck Riveria. Detroit just isn't a place we go to. A couple decades ago and more, we had relatives head up there for jobs but that migration is long over.

I'm glad we have the alliance with the Motor Pizza Bowl but if an opportunity opened up in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, or Tennessee, we'd be all over it.

I'm also glad that we have this bowl connection and I'm also 'kinda' glad we have three schools bowling this year. There are only two bowl eligible schools not going to a bowl, so I think it's going to be difficult to get another bowl game qualified. May have to wait until one of the current bowls fail to pick up another.

My guess would be that the average fan doesn't know the difference in the SBC 1-3 and the MAC 1-3. Its just another small bowl to them.

Once FAU's new stadium is opened and tailgating starts students and Boca residents will be all over it(It certainly will become a place to be seen and who likes to throw better parties than Boca). It will make a huge difference in campus life. I talked to some College of Boca Raton/ PBCC students about the new stadium and they were very excited about it.The potential fan base is there. Unfortunately FIU is positioned too close to "the U". It always will be a tough sell. I would love to see
a Bowl in Boca-it would be a great venue. It certainly would be a place that would draw media types, ESPN execs, and NCAA Officials.

RE: FIU in Little Ceasars Bowl
College of Boca Raton has been Lynn University for a while. :)

The state is approving a new I-95 interchange right into the campus and stadium, which will make game trips very easy fr people in the West Palm Beach area and Treasure Coast. There should be no more Glades Road traffic nightmares because of the new exit.

Having the on-campus stadium will draw Palm Beaches people who just refused to go to Fort Lauderdale, to a less than desirable area, for a game. Because the games will now be played in the same TC/Radio market as FAU, coverage and image should be better. Now, the games are played in the Miami media market, causing Palm Beaches media to treat them like non-local stories, and the Miami media concentrates on schools (mainly UM) that are in its area.

The game features MAC #1 against the Belt co-champ. FIU is #3 as a 'pick' but tied for #1 in the final Sun Belt standing. Should be a good matchup.

The Lynns were friends of the family.
