Nice Win OWLS!!!!

Beat Mississippi State, and then beat South Florida. That's no easy task. Very well done by FAU.

I was able to catch the second half and FAU Arena was really rocking. I think 10 times as many students came to this game than the football game a couple of hours earlier.

Anyway, we were talking and somebody mentioned that this might be the first time a Sun Belt basketball team beat two BCS (major) conference teams back to back. Maybe?

Just a few short years ago USF was the wart on the Big East's...




They are trending upwards and if that continues this will be a very good win at the end of the season.

whether their BBall sucks or not, we were 0-10 vs them, and any win against a BE school is good by me.

In 5 years, FAU will be known as a Basketball school and FIU will be known as a FOOTBALL school.

Yup,

Im not sure what the big deal is about that? Ive heard more then a few say thats not supposed to happen but I dont know why?

The FAU students are really getting behind the basketball team and I guess there enthusisasm runs away with them.

If it would assure a 20 win season, i'd rush the court after every game. No big deal; if I was USF, I'd feel complimented.

Eh, I think you only do it for truly big wins. I don't think USF qualifies as that for anyone except a D-2 school.

FAU beat a SEC school and a Big East school back to back. That calls for at least some celebration. Has a Sun Belt school beaten two major league schools back to back in recent regular season history?

exactly, and the SEC school was away, so it was built up into the usf game

Rusing the field/court is a huge pet peeve of mine. It has become so incredibly trite and overdone, students look for any opportunity to do it, it's become completely ridiculous. When I was a student, our students rushed the field twice, both in 2008. When we beat Maryland in 2008, our students rushed the field. When it became clear that we were going to win and it was obvious that we were going to rush the field, I was conflicted and didn't partake. Yes Maryland was our first victory over a BCS-AQ school not named Vandy, yes it was a big win, but Maryland went 6-7 the year before. I opted to not perform.

A few weeks later, the remaining students at the end of the FAU game rushed the field when we beat them on the hail mary on the final play. This time I was not conflicted at all, I was pissed that anyone thought this win justified rushing the field. Was it an emotional win on an exciting play? Absolutely, but FAU was 1-3(so were we) rushing the field after beating a conference foe who was 1-3 was simply embarassing, no matter how exciting the play we won the game on was.

I would have loved to rush the field/court as a student, but the few times we had games I felt justified it, we lost and I wasn't going to rush the field just for the sake of doing it, just because we won a game that was bigger than average or decided on an emotional play.

I love it when the students rush the field or the court. Shows the excitement of the fanbase. We could use more of that.
