Interesting review although the crowd for the Texas Tech game was far from typical. The old Snake Pit was so named because that is what opposing coaches called it in the MVC days, it was originally coined I think by Maury John, Drake's legendary coach, after NT ran Drake almost out of the gym. I have no idea were he came up with floods and snakes envading the Pit. Likewise the Super Pit was named after the "Snake Pit", I have never heard anything else.
