Lose to ASU tomorrow and that joke becomes a lot less funny...

True, as you guys pointed out, the 'belt sucks this year so anything is possible, right? But you have to admit that right now it is funny. 03-lmfao By the way, I am pulling for you guys to take care of business at home.

This is an awesome time at FIU which makes it an awesome time for the Sun Belt, too.

Here are the articles from the Miami Herald. The piece on Mario Cristobal has a poll which asks "Will the FIU football program ever eclipse UM as the top college team in South Florida?" (56% of nearly 400 voters replied yes 02-13-banana)

Great to see FIU turn the corner. Miami is my second city and I have followed FIU's program since the beginning. As for passing Miami in popularity it is inevitable. Miami's alumni could care less about the program and therefore Miami will not do the necessary things to go back to being a perennial top 10 power. They will not pay assistant coaches and they will not build an on campus showcase stadium. Miami's spoiled students will go across town to games on "the bad side of town". As long as alumni are more content to be seen at a Heat game Miami is on its way to irrelevance. This pains me because I grew up a Hurricane. But it is what it is. All FIU needs to do is keep winning.

I was just thinking "I wonder what a fan of a team that is years from ever being relevant thinks about this..."

Wait, no I wasn't.

I think it's great that FIU is getting the much-needed pub. Props to them on a good season.

Miami loses 23-20 to USF at home in front of like 5 people. The overhead shot of Sun Life was brutal.

It's your time FIU

FIU is on the upswing and Miami is trending down, but there is still a gaping chasm between the two. If FIU loses today...they'll be a loss next week from no one outside of the FIU fanbase even remembering this was almost a good season.

They might, but I think the UM fan base would go nuts. Until this year Cristobal just hadnt got it done despite great classes.

Will be interesting to see if Cristobal gets looks.

They are already going nuts. The comments on the Miami Herald website are already at 50 pages. Consensus, they want a big name from outside the program. They are completely delusional. They are throwing names like Jon Gruden, Butch Davis, Mike Leach and even Jimmie Johnson around. They want to return to playing for national titles while paying coaches salaries that are a third or half of what the Top 10 programs pay. Plus they think they can continue to play in an off campus stadium 15 miles from campus and not upgrade training facilities. Good luck with that plan 'Canes.
