2010 Football in Review
Just a few observations:
- Promotions and marketing were way better this year than they have been in the past.
- Actual attendance at the games seemed to be up. Along with the "Paid Attendance" numbers.
- Injuries continue to be a problem
- The highly debated QB battle ended up being extremely one sided. Gillett simply out played Payne.
- I feel much better about the offense this year than last year.
- The defense, well... You know...
- Of the JUCO transfers only Westerman and Grimes played... Westerman probably made more of an impact, but Grimes saw alot of reps.
- cmadler's blog is great
- This discussion board was alot of fun to be a part of...

JC transfers, in addition to Westerman and Grimes,Wlliams played a lot as a strong side corner and/or an outside lb

RE: 2010 Football in Review
Add a few and by the way Happy Thanksgiving to all the EMU fans.
Offense:
They finally got "it" on offense. Gillett improved alot this season although when forced to pass his interception rate is fairly high.
The offensive line did a good job. Priest was dependable when he played. The offense is not a very good come from behind offense.
Scott and Thomas showed flashes of being very good they need good games rather than just good plays. Welcome back the TE to EMU offense Thayer did very well and Hoskins had some big plays.
Defense:
The stats tell it all we haven't really improved during English's coaching tenure despite new coaches, new schemes and new players. Some of the JUCOs and redshirt freshmen were disappointments. Not only did teams run against EMU consistently but because there was no pass rush teams also passed consistently.
Special teams:
This is where your backups play. They gave up big plays. The punting was far better than I thought it would be after Zach Johnson's departure. Field goal kicking was an adventure and not dependable.
No it was not a good team but it was an improving team which gives me hope for next year.
