The WAC has offered Hawaii a "football-only" membership in the league in an attempt to keep the Warriors from agreeing the same deal with the Mountain West Conference, WAC commissioner Karl Benson wrote to league presidents and athletic directors in an e-mail obtained by the Idaho Statesman.

WAC is REELING.

Benson is begging.

Doesn't fix the issue of continuity of membership nor does it address the need for 8 full members that play FBS.

Sad.

And everyone keeps saying no apparently except for Denver, UTSA, and TSU, who I cant blame at all, Denver fits geographically and UTSA and TSU had to accept. Its too hard to get a shot at FBS and not take it. F_U's werent really ready either but when the SBC came a calling we stepped it up.

This makes no sense.

You already know they want MWC football membership and just need a place to park the other sports. Parking sports elsewhere is the WAC's biggest problem because that puts the AQ on the block. They need to offer to let Hawaii pull out football and leave the other sports.

I didn't believe it at first. It makes no sense at all. Hawaii has no reason to accept. And there is NO upside for the WAC itself. If Hawaii accepts then all the non-football AQs go away for the rest of the WAC. If Hawaii refuses - as they will - the the WAC and the remaining Presidents just look incredibly stupid for making the offer.
