Seems out of place with a state so connected with the petroleum industry.

Texas produces more energy from wind than any other state.

When this was brought up before some of the proponents of this claimed that the wind turbines would in fact be "cost effective" or reduce energy costs by more than the cost of the turbines combined with with thier upkeep.

If that is so... then why aren't they powering all of thier buildings this way?

Even if its break even or losses money I think its still a great green idea.

I would love for FAU to do something like this. With our proximity to the Ocean and our involvement in looking for alternative energy solutions from the Gulf Stream current it would be a natural.

Now with the Boca Airport being right next to campus I dont think that the FAA is going to allow 50 foot spinning blades anywhere near where planes are landing.

The whirring of the turbines will help the crowd noise and drive opponents crazy. Great move .

Those turbines and where they will be placed in relation to the new stadium is a "crock of sh!t". Especially when they could have been located across the interstate at UNT's Research Park. Hell, they could have put them next to the Engineering Building and the students could have field trips out the back door to research those ugly things.

What an eyesore next to the stadium.

With the overall landmass and generally flat landscape, I should hope so. I haven't been to Texas since I was about 11 years old, but I definitely remember it being windy.

You are correct. I wish MT could throw a bunch of money into a low-return investment that will take a few decades to pay off (if ever), so I have to live vicariously through UNT.

What an eyesore next to the stadium.

Part of an evil plan only to turn them on when UNT is defending that goal.
