Probably not bud. The Sun Belt is pretty happy with its current roster. The WAC is interested in them because they were just raided. Bringing in so many FCS programs will be the end of the WAC as a respected BCS Conference.

To be honest, it would probably be a better idea to stay in 1-AA than to join the Western Athletic Conference at this point.

Before they toss you for spamming thanks because I had wondered who that guy was but obviously he is not a credible source for info on conference expansion.

Ah, its a simple question with a mostly simple answer.

In the college world as it exists today... no chance of UTSA and TSU joining the Sun Belt.

But its not an eternal prohibition. If we have a need to expand, they would likely be high on the list as FBS schools or schools a year away from FBS in transition.

The thing about transition schools is that you never quite know what you are getting. Sometimes highly successful FCS programs struggle after the move and sometimes less successful FCS shine. The converse is more likely to be true.

I love what USA is doing, they have been putting appropriate meals on their plate and developing a culture of success, I really like their chances because they are effectively executing a smart plan. Could they stub their toe before getting in? Of course. Could they make a mistake that ruins it, of course. I like what I've seen so far even though I don't take the Sagarin rating seriously, I know they will get that laminated and make sure recruits see it and that is only possible because of how they scheduled.

Let UTSA and TSU join the WAC and prove themselves a bit. If they turn out to be good programs maybe the Belt will look at them and let them move to a stronger Conference such as ours.
