Interesting. Why would either of these kids pick UALR? They both have several offers much closer to home. They have offers from higher ranked schools and schools that have made the NCAA tournament recently. All the schools likely have impressive campuses and nice facilities (Just about every DI school these days has new facilities or have significantly upgraded their old ones). In the end it comes down to relationships. We seem to have one with Will Neighbour. If we get him (or these other kids), that will be the reason why.

I am sure schools do like airlines - oversell the number of seats.

I like that we're at least giving it a shot, though. Can't land the big fish unless you try.

Bingo. Go after them.

No way I could deal with being a recruiter for a living. If a kid has 11 or 12 offers, all things being equal, you have less than a 10% chance of getting him. There are also going to be other, bigger name schools, telling the kid to wait because they will likely have a scholarship come the Spring recruiting period. Do you take a player who is number 4 on your list, or wait for 1, 2, and 3 to make their decisions? While you're waiting you may lose 4, as well as well as 5 and 6, and end up with number 7. It's a tough business.

I heard of him, he has been mentioned a few time in the AJC (Atlanta Journal Constitution). He plays for Georgia HS basketball powerhouse Wheeler High School. This school has produced several major D1 and NBA players.

In order to maintain that balance Hilltopper2K mentioned, we need to sign at least two freshman this year.

NOt really sure what you are saying but you can't have 5 Seniors every year unless you have a lot of kids leaving every year and signing Juco players. Ideally you have sign 4, 3, 3, 3 and repeat that the next four years but as we know that players leave for various reasons.

Some times you are just unlucky in how the scholies fall. For example this year. Arkansas has a lot of girl high school seniors that will sign D1 scholarship at the guard slot. Unfortunately for us at ASU we need a couple of big girls and I believe their is only about one in this state. So we have to go search a long ways off to fill that void. But if you are in need of guards you could reap those rewards this year.

I guess the all time record would be having a roster with 13 seniors. How would you do that anyway? A program gets the death penalty for a year or two, comes back and signs 13 jucos? Now wouldn't that be something.04-cheers

Simple. Recruit 3rd-year JUCO's.
