Quote:Troy quarterback Jamie Hampton’s career was dealt another crushing blow, and it may well be over.

On an 8-yard carry in the second quarter, Hampton was hit in the left leg and came down hard, immediately signaling for the training staff. Television replays showed a broken leg, and head coach Larry Blakeney said he’s set for surgery today in Birmingham.

They flew him back to Birmingham last night for surgery today. Broke both the bones in his lower leg. He will be getting a rod i and a plate inserted. Talked to him after the game and his comment was God has a plan for me. Great kid.

That was intelligent (sw)...God is not smiting him down, his faith is being tested. Everyone has trials and tribulations that they shouldn't measure next to anyone else's. As I said before, DeAndre Brown came back after breaking his leg against TROY in the NO Bowl. Jamie is a Warrior, he'll be okay either way.

Well said, I am praying for a quick recovery for the kid. That was a terrible injury and you hate to see that happen to any of these kids.

Terrible.

I saw the play, and as my stomach lurched I thought two words: Joe Theisman.

That's great news. My heart sank when I saw that injury. I hate to see any kid get injured like that.

I doubt he ever plays football again but if he can walk and function normally that is a blessing. The kid has much higher goals than can be achieved on a football field.
