They're still undefeated. It looks like they'll have top end attendance once they're in the belt and initially it will only get better, but they'll come back to earth when they start losing games. IF USA goes undefeated again this year, there will be people in Mobile who will be surprised when USA loses to NC State and Kent State next year. Losing those games will hurt their momentum some, but as soon as they lose to some Sun Belt schools, their forward momentum in attendnace will completely fall off. I guarantee you there are many USA fans who buy into the Sun Belt perception and think the Jags could win the Belt this year and that the Belt will only be a stopover for them. I expect that unless USA comes in and gets blown out in conference games(I don't think they will) I imagine they'll be in the top two or three in attendance, but I don't think they're going to come in and average 30,000 because they're playing an FBS schedule.

I have to confess. We left after about 45 minutes of the delay. We were soaked to the bone, taking turns holding our two year old so she wouldn't run off into the crowd, and my father had just gotten home from a delicate surgery on his neck, so we rode down to Dothan to check on him, dry off, and spend the night. The way it was pouring, despite only a 30% chance of showers, we weren't sure they'd get to start back any time soon. I gotta say though, my wife was a trooper through the whole thing. As long as they were playing, we were there with a tiny umbrella shared between the two of us, daughter in my lap staying dry. But when the lightning started we took cover. We were just disappointed we didn't get to see the SOTS march. That's my daughter's favorite part.
And to whoever is in section 212, row 3, seats 3-6, if you're on here, it was nice to meet you. We'll see you at the rest of the games.

I'll sit/stand through rain all day so long as the teams are still playing, but will only hang out during a delay for so long at a stadium that doesn't serve beer. And I only have myself to worry about.

We left around half an hour into the delay. Went to the house and finished watching the game on TV. It was just miserable. We were face to face with 3000 people trying to get out of the rain.

I remember our game against Florida last year. We got rained on for most of the 1st half. But it was just Dad and me so we stood up with ponchos and hats on, and only our feet got wet. But with a little one we were trying to keep dry, we stayed seated and got soaked. Oh well.

I've stood in the concourse of Turner Field for two hours during a rain delay before. I think between myself and two buddies we probably spend $100 on beer and peanuts in that time.

5K.
That number is inflated considerably by their game against Army, which draws everywhere. Their game against Army drew 14,499, their other four home games combined drew 10,581.
Army 14,499
Temple 3,364
Kent State 2,401
Ball State 1,535
WMU 3,281
There are bad FCS teams that draw better than this.
The fact that EMU still sponsors football really astonishes me. I wasn't defending the attendance, just correcting.

That's the "rule", but. . .

To witness our 23rd straight loss at that.
I have to wonder what our attendance will be if we ever have a good team.
I'm not sure too much better than that. Isn't the capacity about 22,500? I guess the berm holds about 5,000--so I guess realistically about 27,500 can be in there (without stadium expansion. Which I think it can expanded to 10k additional seats).

Maybe, but I can't find where it is listed as a ULM home game in the NCAA site attendance stats. Sad that you'd even need or want that game to count toward attendance. I'll be glad when 'phantom' home games are not longer necessary or needed by any Belt team. Occasional games in larger nearby stadiums for big games; OK. Games like ULM's Arkansas series; NO.
With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy...
If you are wearing your home colors, you might be the home team.
If you get the concession money for the cokes and popcorn, you might be the home team.
If your logo is painted at midfield and in the endzones, you might be the home team.
If your band has its own section in the stadium, you might be the home team.
If your band is at the game, you might be the home team.
If your fans in the stands outnumber theirs by a metric manure ton, you might be the home team.
