So pretty much a sellout considering FIU's small stadium. Too bad they didn't pull off the upset.

Miami Herald:
Quote:ATTENDANCE MARK

The loss spoiled an otherwise electric night at FIU Stadium. The announced attendance, 19,872, was by far the largest in the program's short history, and the mostly pro-FIU crowd was into the game throughout.

Emotions ran high from the time the Golden Panthers ran out of the tunnel before the game.

Cornerback Anthony Gaitor sprinted to the east end zone carrying the jersey of late teammate Kendall Berry, who was killed in an on-campus stabbing in the spring.

``I play every play like it's my last play,'' said linebacker Toronto Smith, who led FIU with nine tackles. ``God only has us on the planet for so long. I do everything I can on every play. Kendall Berry showed us that life is so precious.''

RE: FIU up on Rutgers
A weird game in the sense that both teams and their fan base came out of the game not happy. Rutgers because they were dominated throroughly in the trenches by FIU, and FIU because our mistakes, turnovers, terrible punting special team, and bad decisions (and a little bit of slanted officiating too), was enough to overcome the superiority demonstrated by our defense and offense on the field. In essence, it's frustrating because this was a game FIU should have won.

Still, it's interesting that we could be so disappointed in a game where we did a lot better than what the odds were, and where our team outgained Rutgers in offensive...and defensive...statistics in the book.

FIU had 15 first downs to Rutgers 9
FIU had 371 total yards to Rutgers 172
FIU had 167 rushing yards to Rutgers 76

Oh well....let's see what the future holds. Anyways, here's a nice video on the atmosphere, sounds and sights, plus the emotions running on our field last Saturday.
