There's no politics here.
I've seen Owens, and he's got talent but he's not ready yet. Why screw him up by playing him before he is ready?
Sometimes you don't find out if a guy is ready until he gets in the game.
I know some guys just don't practice good, but Owens still makes poor decisions in practice, throwing into coverage and so forth. I can't see a guy making those mistakes in practice and not making them in the game as well.
As I've said before, I really would like to see Macon get that redshirt. That really is important to the development of a QB. He's also not 100% on being a QB right now. He's seeing snaps at both QB and WR in practice.

Dantin is terrible but he is the coaches guy! They will will crash and burn with Dantin. Coaches want to give him game experience no matter what. Its all politics in case you folks dont see it. From what I hear he gets all the reps in practice so he should be ready. The 2s are split with the other guys. Pasquel is a good runner cant pass the ball. Pettee is a passer never gets a chance. Pay attention people. Play calling the worst we have ever seen. Ohio was just that bad so we lucked out. Defense looks good finally.
Hope coaches will listen and change up play calls. We have the receivers and Page is not the only one. Against the other games ahead something has to change. Dantin sure looks short out there and not very heavy. Running up the center may get him really hurt as well as hurting the legs of his linemen. He cant manage the game. Next year it will be Owens, mark my word.
I disagree to an extent. Pettee played some in the game and he was throwing behind receivers. He can't run at all, so he doesn't fit our offense. We need a QB that can run some with the type of offense we run. Dantin can improve with game experience. Let's not forget he's a 19 year old QB that was rushed to the field as a true freshman last year. There are not too many 19 year old QB's that are very good in major college football......and the one's that are that good are likely playing for BCS schools. The guys that can become good QB's, but need time to develop, are likely to be the type of QB's we are going to be able to recruit. I can't think of a QB at Toledo in recent memory that was playing at the age of 19 and very good. Most good QB's had time to develop........Huzjak, Bolden, Jones, Gradkowski.
UT needs to win now and figure out who is the most able to run the offense > Im not seeing that yet. Also Dantin will be 20 real soon. He played last year as a true freshman and I dont see any improvement. In fact he played worse this week than last. If they keep running him this season he may really be injured. My guess coaches will open up the passing game next week and beat Western. See you at the game.
Running the ball with the QB is part of this offense. Whether you or anyone of else agree with it, it is. Dantin was a true freshman and started 3 games last year. In the games he played last year, we did not play a defense as good as the two we have played so far so you can't compare them.
I don't want to see Dantin or any other QB get hurt, but I want to see a QB that can run the ball because that is part of our offense. Dantin has to keep running the ball in this offense.

Tonight UT ran the ball almost 50 times for a 2 yd avg with the longest run from scrimmage about 11yds. That's not cutting it. Need to get Stafford/ Green to stretch the field more and take some pressure off of Page.
Totally agree. The one time on offense that we ran the ball well, we scored a TD. And that TD was on a pass because the run opened up the passing game.

I also dispute the "not seeing any improvement" comment. At the very least, recognize that Dantin hasn't fumbled the ball. That was a huge problem last year, and one of the things he said he worked hard on in the offseason.

Yes.
Robroy testifies that Owens can neither read defenses nor manage a game. Neither Pettee nor Pasquale provided much today. You ready to suit up?
He would definitely suit up if he could. Unfortunately, he used up his eligibility in 1990:)
