Early Season SBC Games
Seems rather strange that ASU has thee SBC games scheduled in September starting with ULL today. ASU fans will either be excited about football or looking forward to basketball season and talking about who the next football HC will be come October.
Good thing for ASU is they have played their best ball early in the season recently; bad thing is Roberts & Company does not handle pressure very well and this September schedule will be a “tremendous challenge” for them.

I believe that there is an advantage to getting into conference play as early as possible.
I'll never forget Babb's senior year with the Cajuns, we started out with 3 OOC games, just beat Houston, IIRC, and had to play MT who was, if memory serves, already 2-0 in conference.
Losing to MT ruined our season because it put us down 3 games before we even got started.
So no one is going to convince me that early conference games are not a good thing.
I can't wish you good luck this week, but I will wish you and your fans a warm Cajun welcome.
But I will say better luck next week.

I think an early sunbelt game plays out well for arkansas state. Traditionally, they play well early, and tend to fizzle out as the season goes on. They put up 26 last week and I think the trend continues. They'll have one of the most exciting offenses in the sunbelt this season.

Never can tell with a Roberts’s coached team because inconstancy is the only thing consistent about his program. The front 7 on defense was supposed to be the strength of the team and they cannot tackle worth a flip and in fact the whole defense looked as lost as a goose last week at times against Auburn.
All the talk and excitement has been about the offence and most feel Roberts would not have made a change in the OC if he had not been forced into doing so and that may be the only thing that saves him.
Roberts’s problem is he dragged along a bunch of his buddies as he moved up the coaching ranks from Division II, to I-AA and then to 1-A at ASU and it has taken 9 seasons to weed out the ones that he should have left behind.
