wku fans: whatever happened...
to the promise by your president and previous AD that on transitioning to 1A/FBS that you were going to do things so much better than "others" (others being code for Middle Tennessee), specifically in scheduling. Looking at the wku schedule (4 FBS - @Nebraska, @Kentucky, Indiana, and @South Fla.), have any of your fans approached your President asked "WTF?"

Only one of those games is a money game(Nebraska). I'm perfectly happy having USF and Indiana coming to Smith stadium.

How much better/different can a low-level FBS team get with scheduling and still be relevant? Using that term loosely.

Scheduleing is tough for all of us.
I do salute MTSU. They have done a great job on achieving balance in there schedule.
FAU will have to have 3 money games a year for a while to help with the stadium.
I belive we need to avearge 18K a year to break even on the stadium loan.
I think in a few years well be above that and we can decrease the pure money games.

"Others being code for Middle Tennessee." You're kidding, right? Our world doesn't revolve around MTSU. Sorry you all can't say the same about WKU. (Seriously, I can't believe the MUTS Web site doesn't already have a "countdown to tipoff" for the women's basketball game against WKU.)
As others have said, Nebraska is the only "money game" this year. South Florida came to WKU last year, and Indiana is coming this year. And we have two "home games" with UK in Nashville in the next four years.
Let's face it: WKU isn't going to be competitive for a Sun Belt title for at least 2-3 more years. Until then, why not schedule some "big-name" teams to drum up some excitement from your fan base. It sure beats bringing in Austin Peay, especially when you're supposed to be good.

I just remember numerous times wku fans posting about discussions with their president and AD about scheduling and it was very clear they were going to 'do it better' than Middle Tennessee. For example a post from the Haven from just a couple of years ago:
Quote:Do we thank Gary Ransdell or Wood Selig for misleading the fans?
Just curious...................
Oh by the way, I was told at 4 different "Let's go 1-A, but we're going to do it right" talks about how they WOULD NEVER follow the lead by MT, and others who have played money games to pay for 1-A. We would follow Boise states lead and not kill ourselves by selling ourselves out.
I guess if we had FIVE money games, that would be whoring ourselves, but 4..............no big deal. yeah right.

Why do MTSU fans have such a hangup for Troy and WKU?

Future WKU schedules...
I think WKU has done a pretty good job of sticking to the 1 money per year theme.
2010
Nebraska - only $ game this year
UK - part of 4 games series with 1st game @ UK
USF - played at WKU last year.
IU - playing at WKU this year.
2011
UK - wku home game in Nashville
Navy - at WKU
Ind. St - 1AA return game from transition
???? - No $ game scheduled yet

mmmmm.....you need to rework that reply crush.....too logical....don't quite fit in with spaceraider's boner for wku.
you would think that most sports message boards are guys but from the way that the middle fans remember 'every word' that any idiot on haven 'may have' ever said they gotta have a 90% estrogen fan base.
the only person in my life that brings up something i said 'years ago' would be the female i'm married to. most 'real men' that i know could give a rat's culo less what someone said 5 years ago. you'd think you cussed they grandmas the way the muts squall on here about anything wku related.

RE: wku fans: whatever happened...
"Judge not, lest ye be judged"
The problem with most MT posters is they want to be able to judge everyone without being judged. When they do get called out, they get defensive and put up the holier than thou attitude. They want to portray themselves as angelic, above reproach, and with unassailable integrity. They want to be the "Prom Queen". However, when their "warts" are pointed out to them, they cover them up with makeup so they don't look bad, and try and say it's not really what it appears. They also have an inability to answer pointed questions. When the questions are asked, they try to divert your attention away from the 800 pound gorilla in the room, and instead they try to draw you attention to the mirror they are constantly primping themselves in.
There is no reasonable discourse with them when trying to provide another point of view on a subject, or when trying to provide logical explanation or insight into action exercised by your school's program and for others to take another perspective away from the discussion. Instead they have already established the inferiority of the approach in their minds, and no amount of reason can shake them from the position they have settled on, or the possibility they may have come to an premature conclusion.
No, they have put themselves on a lofty pedestal, one which makes it difficult for them to see everyone else in the conference. The audaciousness of their self-pumping (innuendo intended) is not limited to this conference either. They have appointed themselves the "King of Tennessee" now, and are ready to make a run at the SEC East for dominance, which they have already proclaimed for themselves.
It's going to be very interesting to see how this year goes, starting with football season.
Good luck to all, and I wish all the conference brethern good results in their OOC games this season, but I think there will be a particular feistiness to all the conference games Middle plays this season.

The short and somewhat vulgar answer is that they have "***** Envy"
They can't "measure up" to the Troy Football program. They can't "measure up" to the WKU Men's Basketball program....or many others for that matter.
The only sport they outshine everyone in is Women's Basketball, and they can't even begin to measure there.
