RE: Ten College Football Teams With the Best Chance to go 12-0
The thing about Dasher wasn't that he was always throwing picks, it's that he was inconsistent and when he threw them, he threw them in bunches.
In 2009 he threw three picks in three games, two picks in two games, one pick in one game and zero picks in seven games. So he had more games without a pick than he did with one. I think that the combination of another year of growth and maturity as a quarterback coupled with the fact that we'll probably run a little bit more next year, I think Dasher will cut his picks in half.

If you want to put your money where your mouth is, I'll wager $100 donation to our respective AA's that we finish better than 6-6.

I don't make it a habit of betting on 18-21 yr old kids playing a game. I'd rather spend that money actually attending those games. However if MT finishes better than 6-6 I will get that Jarboe autograph you have been hounding me about for 6 months.

Figured as much. My offer is good if sack up and change your mind.
As far as the autograph. You'll have to include a picture of him signing it for me to believe that he can actually read and write. Unlike a Troy degree you can't sign autographs online.

I've said it many times, but I'll say it again, last year we won every game we should have won. At this point, it looks like we should be the better team against every team aside from Minnesota, Troy and Georgia Tech. I think we can repeat the feat of winning the 9 games that we should be the better team in, I think we will beat Minnesota. I'm reserving prediction on Troy and I think we'll lose to Georgia Tech.
All things taken into account, I think this is the best shot a Sun Belt team has ever had to go undefeated. I'm not saying it will happen, but I don't think there's ever been a better chance.
Well you lose the #6 player in the country at interceptions (7), and lose the #4 player in country at forced fumbles (6), you're going to drop in takeaways, considerably. JMO...
Our secondary will be just fine led by Jeremy Kellem who had three intereceptions and two forced fumbles and two blocked punts last year. I think his interceptions and forced fumbles will go up this year. We have some very talented corners as well, I don't think our interceptions will go down too much. Linebackers are a question right now, we'll see how that plays out, but I'm not too worried about our takeaways.
How is that +13 turnover margin from last year going? Hmmmmmm......

Y'll leave Middle alone, they won 10 games last year and a bowl game - they are clearly the King of the Belt - or the Tallest Midget to steal a line from Dahbeed.

Look what happened to that team.
I expect FAU to be much better this year, even without Crusty Rusty.
The problem that year was their incredibly high turnover ratio in 2007 when they won the conference. FAU was 3rd in the country in turnovers. Their offense was ok, but it was predicated by getting turnovers and good field position. When they couldn't do that in 2008, they couldn't produce. Here's the nasty thing about turnovers, if you do really well one year, you're going to have a down year in turnovers the next year. Only 20% of teams with double digit turnover margins match or exceed their record a year later. The other 80% actually fall in their records. Florida Atlantic ended the season 101st in turnovers in 2008, despite having 20 starters back on the team. The only good thing about turnovers is they taste good.
That year, 2007, FAU had a freshman, Tavious Polo, ranked #9 in the country in interceptions, and a senior, Cergile Sincere, ranked #3 in the country in forced fumbles. The loss of the senior hurt, and I don't think Polo even started in 2008.
I called this almost as soon as they beat us. I knew they weren't going to repeat, they weren't that good. They were good at creating turnovers, and I knew they wouldn't be able to replicate that magical season. They won a lot of close games that year too. Phil Steele picked them to win that year, they did not. Turnovers are a much bigger deal than most people think.
Which sounds eerily similar to how MT was winning last year. Will they be able to reproduce the +12 turnover ratio of a year ago?
Nope.

So long as we beat one of ASU and FIU, then yes. Personally I believe we win out.

same here. 120th in TO's and inconsistency on offense will seal the deal.

I wouldn't be shocked if we lost to both ASU and FIU. They're both good teams and we're playing on the road. Even if we did lose both of those games I don't see us losing to ULM, FAU, UNT or WKU.
I think we get right this Saturday against ULM and it starts another back half winning streak for us.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Where are you playing stAte? Is it a home game for you? They are Jekyl and Hyde at home v. road.
Question.
If you do lose to Monroe this week, do you consider benching Dasher for that kid that pounded us?

Kilgore is hurt and likely out for the season. He ran the other 2 backup QB's off during the Spring, so we are left with Jeff Murphy and a little- used running QB. Stock will live and die with Dasher.

Kilgore needs to spend a lot of time in the weight room before he is a starting quarterback in the FBS.

His injury is a foot injury. No amount of added mass would have prevented it. He took some hard hits in his games and bounced right back up.
